Position Overview:
The FactSet Workstation Application is a product that helps financial professionals access high-quality data, uncover deeper research ideas, and power intelligent analytics in one seamless experience. In this Software Engineering I role, your responsibilities will center around the build and deployment systems, supporting apps, and infrastructure utilized by the developers working directly on the FactSet Workstation Application.
Some aspects of this job include building robust and secure pipelines to deliver FactSet's primary Windows Workstation application, migrating legacy software and processes to modern frameworks and libraries, and automating build and deployment infrastructure to allow developers to focus on code, not on process.
Working in a small team of 3, you will gain valuable hands-on experience with infrastructure management, debugging and troubleshooting skills, and proficiency in harnessing community engagement to facilitate efficient and painless development. If you love to problem-solve, this is the job for you!
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and optimize Windows-based FactSet build systems
- Design and build self-service APIs and web portals
- Automate, maintain, and monitor infrastructure to support critical Windows-based FactSet workflows
- Participation in an on-call rotation for rare, critical incidents (historically occurring once every few years)
- Engage with high-level FactSet developers in monthly round tables to collaborate on project strategy and prioritization
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience
- Basic Windows troubleshooting
- Ability to work in a high-level programming language (such as C#, Python, Go, C++, Java, Perl, etc.)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language
Desired Skills:
- Familiarity with C# and/or Perl
- Expose to common cloud infrastructure components (AWS preferred)
- Familiarity with Windows software development practices
