Software Engineer, CDE

What you'll do
In this role, you'll help build and maintain the CDE (Cloud Data Extraction) offering, a critical new component of our Zero Trust Platform. The Cloud Data Extraction team focuses on large-scale data extraction out of cloud data stores like AWS S3, AWS RDS, GCP BigQuery, and Azure Cache for Redis and much more wherein content is scanned for sensitive data like PII, PHI, etc. and ultimately flagged to a customer's security team for triage and remediation. This new offering is critical to the security of our customers, and is a new product that will accompany other products in our portfolio of data security solutions.
Technologies we use:

• CDE core backend and API services are written in Go
• Our frontend is written in Typescript and React
• We deploy our solutions in AWS Lambda and Kubernetes environments
• We utilize Postgres, Clickhouse, and a number of cloud native data store technologies
• Redis is our cache
• Kafka plays a large role at Cloudflare and this team with message streaming
• For service monitoring we use Prometheus and Grafana
• For service logging we use Sentry, Elasticsearch and Kibana

Examples of desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

• 3-5+ years of professional experience building and managing reliable and performant software systems at scale, preferably with some experience in our tech stack.
• Excellent debugging and optimization skills.
• Passion for making the digital world a more secure place.
• Willingness, curiosity, and enthusiasm to learn new programming languages, technologies and systems
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Caring and empathy are coveted traits here!

Bonus

• Frontend programming experience in Typescript/Javascript
• Previous experience with building ETL or ETL-like technologies.
• Previous experience working on security products

Compensation
Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location.

• For Colorado-based hires: Estimated annual salary of $137,000 - $167,000.
• For New York City, Washington, and California (excluding Bay Area) based hires:): Estimated annual salary of $154,000 - $188,000
• For Bay Area-based hires: Estimated annual salary of $162,000 - $198,000.
