TEAM

Toyota's Woven City is a fully connected ecosystem powered by hydrogen fuel cells to be built at the base of Mt. Fuji in Japan. It is envisioned as a 'living laboratory' and 'ever evolving', incorporating a diversity of cutting edge technologies. It will be the world's most programmable city. At the same time, it is also 'human-centric', serving the needs of its citizens and keeping people safe, comfortable and happy.

Our mission is to create the digital heart of Woven City: a software platform called "Agora". All digitally connected services in the city will be orchestrated and delivered on this platform. The technical challenge is huge, and includes creating state of the art systems for collaborating microservices, identity, authentication, privacy, security, brokering data, IoT control, and much more.

The City OS Platform's Data team is tasked with providing systems, services, tools and mechanisms that enable teams to store, manage and share data on the platform in a secure, resilient and privacy-respecting manner.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR

We are hiring Engineers for individual contributor roles based in Tokyo. These roles report to a team lead or Manager, focusing on delivering our platform. It is a highly technical team of software engineers. This role's workplace type is hybrid.

RESPONSIBILITIES

・You will collaborate closely with other engineers to develop and document requirements, architecture, design, code, and test for the City's data systems/services

・You will collaborate with teams who are building digital services, and help them get the most out of the their data on the City OS platform

・Assisting internal teams onboarding

・Providing teams with technical support

・Troubleshooting storage service or database issues encountered by services utilizing the CityOS platform

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

・Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field

・5+ years of Software engineering or Solutions Architecture experience

・Experience with Kubernetes

・Experience with at least one of the following:

・Extensive experience managing and administrating AWS services, including RDS and other managed storage solutions

・Experience utilizing Terraform infrastructure as code solution to manage cluster resources

・Good communication, a proactive mindset, and strong problem-identification and solving skills

・Proficiency in business-level English

NICE TO HAVES

• Experience with Redis, CouchDB, and other similar NoSQL solutions
• Experience with PostgreSQL, or similar RDBMS solutions
• Proficiency in business level Japanese language
