About the team:

Our engineering team builds the platform that powers intelligent automation at scale. We help customers turn unstructured data (e.g. documents) into validated, structured insights through end-to-end workflows. With our tools, users can design workflows in Build, publish them as Apps, connect them to production systems with Deployments, and continuously monitor and refine results in Review.

Beyond workflows, we design and operate the core infrastructure and platform capabilities that enable AI agents to run securely, reliably, and at scale — meeting the strict security, compliance, and performance needs of our enterprise customers.

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Instabase, you will be responsible for:
  • Designing and building robust, scalable backends.
  • Collaborating with frontend engineers to design the optimal APIs to deliver intuitive and snappy interfaces to end users.
  • Working with product managers and designers to understand user pain points and create the best product experience.
  • Interfacing with other engineering teams to ensure the features you own are integrated with downstream and upstream systems.
  • Troubleshooting production issues and contributing to improving stability through testing and other initiatives.
  • Setting the direction for not only your team but the entire engineering organization
  • Improving the company through mentorship, interviewing, and new initiatives

As a team, we move fast and are empowered to make product and design decisions. You will start contributing to our codebase week 1 and as an early team member, will help shape the backend and direction of our product.

What we’re looking for:
  • 5+ years industry experience in a backend software engineering role.
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, or equivalent experience in a technical field such as Physics or Mathematics.
  • Passion for software engineering design, with an interest in the latest developments in AI/ML.
  • Enthusiasm for building user-facing products, shipping features quickly, and incorporating user feedback.
  • Strong technical communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to set technical and cultural standards for engineers, with a proven track record of technical leadership
Compensation:

The base salary range for this role is $190,000 to $205,000 + bonus, equity and US benefits. The actual pay may vary based on factors such as location, experience and skills.
