WHAT YOU’LL DO
We are looking for a motivated Software Engineer to be part of a large-scale transformation of H&M’s online platform by contributing to a central platform that supports teams across the organization. You will have the opportunity to influence architecture, engineering standards, and developer experience while working on impactful solutions with long-term value. Collaborate with skilled engineers across multiple domains to solve complex challenges, drive innovation, and help shape the future of our digital ecosystem.
As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions that meet the needs of our organization and clients.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, design and maintain backend services, APIs, and Java-based SDKs for the Global Configuration Service to support internal teams and integrations.
- Design and implement cloud-native solutions on Azure, including event-driven and API-based architectures across multiple systems.
- Improve application performance, scalability, and reliability through optimization techniques, caching strategies, and efficient service design.
- Ensure secure service communication and compliance with security standards across distributed systems.
- Collaborate with frontend, backend, platform, and security teams to deliver scalable solutions and enhance developer experience.
WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
At H&M, you will be part of the Product Team – Hybris Strangling, working on modernizing and evolving our digital platform capabilities. One of our key initiatives is the Global Configuration Service (GCS) a centralized platform that enables teams across H&M to manage and consume configuration in a secure, scalable, and standardized way.
GCS is built on Azure App Configuration and provides a Java SDK, APIs, and event-driven capabilities that are leveraged by multiple internal products across the organization.
You will be working on a platform product that serves many teams across H&M, with a strong focus on improving developer experience, ensuring reliability, and building scalable solutions that support the needs of a global organization.
You will have the opportunity to shape a critical platform capability, collaborate with teams across H&M, and contribute to building robust solutions that enable faster and safer software delivery.
WHO YOU ARE
We are looking for people with
- 3-5 years of Strong Java backend development experience with expertise in building scalable backend services, REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including cloud-native solutions, Azure identity and security (Service Principals, IAM/RBAC), and secure service-to-service communication.
- Experience with event-driven architectures, API integrations, shared libraries/SDKs, and configuration-driven systems such as runtime configurations and feature flags.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Maven, Git workflows, caching mechanisms (e.g., Redis), and application performance optimization.
- Experience implementing testing strategies, including automation, integration, and performance testing, with a focus on building reliable and secure applications.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Azure App Configuration or similar platforms, designing and maintaining shared platform services, and supporting multi-team integrations.
- Experience with event-driven architectures, messaging patterns, API management, and API gateway solutions.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Splunk, logging, alerting), developer platforms/onboarding automation (e.g., Backstage), and improving developer experience.
- Exposure to SAP Commerce/Hybris, legacy modernization approaches (such as the strangler pattern), and multi-cloud environments.
