Software Engineer, Backend - Financial Products (Mid-level and above)

The trucking industry is the backbone of the global economy. Roughly 70% of what we consume in the U.S. is moved by trucks. Those trucks are powered by over 3.5 million drivers per year and create over $700B in annual revenue. Trucking is a massive industry but it is a traditional industry and like many traditional industries, it is ripe for innovation. CloudTrucks is building the operating system for trucking and is the first platform specifically designed to empower truck drivers. Our all-in-one, “business in a box” solution provides simplicity, optimizes and automates operations, and accelerates cash-flow for drivers, so they can focus on building their business.

The vision of the financial products team is to empower truck drivers to run sustainable, profitable businesses through better financial tooling. Our team is responsible for the money movement at CloudTrucks. This includes user-facing products like our CT Cash Visa card, internal tooling, and third party financial partnerships.

• Partner with 3rd party companies to design and integrate a fuel rewards program so that customers using their CT Cash Visa card at gas stations can receive cash back rewards.

• Integrate our financial products with our core operating workflows across other product engineering teams to provide a fully embedded fintech experience to our customers.

• Build an immutable financial ledger infrastructure to track and manage all cash movement, inflows, and outflows over the CloudTrucks platform.

• Launch banking and lending products to help our customers best manage their trucking business.

• Work with fraud and risk teams to implement anomaly detection and automated risk management safeguards.

• Work on our financial infrastructure, responsible for all money movement on the platform.

• Design, test, ship, and maintain solutions to original fintech problems and products.

• Take complete ownership over projects and features. Work across a range of systems and technologies to deliver end-to-end solutions.

• Partner with cross functional teams (Product, Operations, Finance, etc.) to ensure a complete and delightful customer experience.

• Help set and improve our engineering processes, standards, and tooling.

• Strong technical background, including 3+ years of industry experience as a software engineer working on production systems.

• Self-motivated and comfortable operating in a dynamic environment.

• Strong attention to detail, ships robustly designed and well tested code with minimal issues in production.

• Takes a user-focused approach, shipping incrementally with rapid iterations.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills. As a small engineering team, we work closely with each other and other cross functional teams across the company.

• Experience with web technologies and system design.

• Experience with our technical stack: Python, Django, Javascript, Typescript, React, Google Cloud

• Experience with building financial systems: double-entry bookkeeping, ledgers, payment systems, card networks, lending products
