Software Engineer || - Authentication

As a Software Engineer on the Authentication team, you will help build and operate the cloud services and infrastructure behind Passport as the platform continues its migration to the cloud. You will contribute to systems that need to be reliable, scalable, performant, and secure, while working closely with experienced engineers and cross-functional partners.

This is an individual contributor role where you will take ownership of well-defined projects and services, contribute to technical decisions, and grow your expertise in cloud-native architecture and authentication systems. More specifically, you will:

• Design, build, test, and maintain cloud services and workflows that support Passport and Authentication systems.

• Contribute to projects from design and implementation through rollout and operational support, primarily using Go and Python.

• Develop and operate cloud-native services across AWS and GCP, including technologies such as Kinesis, DynamoDB, and S3.

• Apply established engineering patterns and contribute improvements to service reliability, scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.

• Participate in technical discussions and help evaluate tradeoffs involving reliability, latency, security, cost, complexity, and delivery timelines.

• Identify technical issues and operational risks within the systems you work on and collaborate with the team to address them.

• Partner with software engineering, test engineering, research, and product teams to deliver new capabilities and improve existing systems.

• Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and technical discussions, providing constructive feedback and learning from other engineers.

• Help investigate and resolve production issues, and turn operational learnings into improvements to monitoring, alerting, runbooks, deployments, and service quality.

• Use modern observability tools to understand system behavior, troubleshoot issues, and reduce recurring operational problems.

• Contribute to the team's engineering practices through documentation, knowledge sharing, and collaboration.

• Participate in the team's on-call rotation, including helping cover after-hours alerts as distributed support coverage expands.

• Develop applications in Golang or Python on top of a modern cloud focused platform 
• Develop and maintain services using AWS native products such as Kinesis, DynamoDB, and S3 
• Deliver production ready code from start to finish
• Engage in design discussions with other team members to create a robust, secured, and scalable solution 
• Review code to maintain quality with an eye towards performance, scale, and security
• Work in a cross-functional environment, composed of software engineers, test engineers, research scientists, and product managers 
• Participate in code reviews along with assigned mentors within team
• Identify and evaluate new technologies for implementationContribute to improving software engineering best practice

• You are a self-starter who can excel in individual within a team of excellent engineers 
• You are execution oriented and follow guidelines to drive a project to successful conclusion
• You have experience in working closely with Product and Customer Engagement teams
• You are an excellent communicator and have precise documentation skills. 
• Preferably, you have experience with customers and real world use cases with Pindrop or a related Security field.

• 2-5 years of Software engineering experience 
• Expertise in programming language of Golang (Go) 
• Experience with cloud computing environments, especially AWS or GCP
• Familiarity with Data Structures, Algorithms, and Concurrency
• Knowledge of different Data Storage technologies such as Redis, MySQL, etc.
• Knowledge of Docker and container orchestration frameworks such as Kubernetes
• Ideally, experience with AWS managed services such as S3, ElastiCache and DynamoDB
• Linux/Unix system internals.
• Proven track record of providing stable and secure code in production environments 
• Experience building microservices and RESTful APIs preferred 
• CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GIT, Jenkins, Spinnaker preferred
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform or AWS CDK preferred
• Experience with Python preferred
