Join eBay’s Customer Support Technology Platform team to support and evolve the systems that power our global customer support experience. As a Software Engineer 2, you will contribute to DevOps, SRE, and release engineering practices, helping improve system reliability, deployment pipelines, and operational efficiency.
This is a hands-on role focused on automation, deployment, monitoring, and debugging, working closely with senior engineers to build reliable and scalable platform operations.
What You’ll DoSupport and improve CI/CD pipelines, build, and release processes
Contribute to automation tools and scripts for deployment and operations
Assist in maintaining system reliability, monitoring, and alerting
Troubleshoot production issues with guidance from senior engineers
Participate in on-call rotations (as needed) and incident response
Collaborate with engineering and SRE teams to improve deployment safety and system stability
Help define and track basic metrics, logs, and observability signals
Follow best practices in DevOps, release management, and operational excellence
BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
2–4 years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, or SRE-related roles
Proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language (Java, Python, or similar)
Basic understanding of:
CI/CD pipelines and release processes
Linux/Unix environments
Cloud or distributed systems concepts
Familiarity with:
Version control (Git)
Debugging and troubleshooting production issues
Unit testing or automation practices
Working knowledge of backend services and APIs to support deployment and operations
Ability to collaborate with developers to improve build, test, and release workflows
Exposure to CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
Familiarity with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
