eBay, Inc. seeks Software Engineer 2 in Portland, OR
Job Duties: Define, design, and implement highly scalable, resilient, and performant software applications for eBay’s distributed systems. Collaborate with architects, Product Management, Engineering, and Operations teams to develop innovative solutions in adherence to software development goals and principles. Produce clear, well-documented technical design docs, and participate in software design and code reviews. Design object-oriented software and design, code, and test complex software features. Build performance efficient, highly scalable, configurable, and available software applications and systems. Define, design, and implement complex, multi-tier distributed software applications. Design, develop, and test high throughput back-end software systems. Develop software code and help lead code review sessions. Segment and design technical system layers to support componentized and layered software application development, including business logic functionality and database/component repository access. Identify and fix performance, scalability, and other software live issues in a very time-critical environment. Develop best-in-class test automation code for software, carry out functional and non-functional testing including web accessibility, product app security, serverside load and performance, and client-side page speed. Work with other engineers, managers, product management, quality analysts, and operations teams to develop innovative technical solutions that meet market needs concerning functionality, performance, availability, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to software development goals and principles. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.
Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Two years of experience building scalable, and highly performant applications in Java.
2. Two years of experience designing and building RESTful Web Services.
3. Two years of demonstrated experience in being able to apply object oriented and solid design principles.
4. Two years of experience building automated unit tests using Junit and related mocking frameworks.
5. Two years of experience with data structures, alogorithms, and object oriented design principles such as SOLID.
6. Two years of experience demonstrating ownership of product features and driving them to successful completion with minimal guidance.
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
