Job Description:
Software Engineer II (Networking, Python, C/C++)
Location: Sunnyvale, CA (Hybrid – 4 days onsite)
We are seeking a Software Engineer II to design, develop, and maintain control plane software for Layer 2 networking technologies. In this role, you will contribute to building scalable, high-performance networking solutions, working across the full software development lifecycle from design and implementation to testing and debugging. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-quality systems software, while also influencing system architecture and hardware compatibility.
Responsibilities
Design and implement enhancements for systems software and networking components, including control plane features
Analyze requirements and determine appropriate coding, integration, and development approaches
Develop, test, troubleshoot, and debug software for new features and product enhancements
Contribute to test planning, automation, and validation, ensuring software quality and reliability
Identify issues, perform root cause analysis, and recommend code improvements and optimizations
Collaborate with internal and external teams to drive project execution, design alignment, and issue resolution
Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical problem-solving
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
3+ years of experience in software development
Strong proficiency in C/C++, including data structures and debugging
Working knowledge of Python and test automation frameworks (e.g., Robot Framework)
Experience with networking fundamentals (Layer 2 technologies preferred)
Solid understanding of software development lifecycle, testing methodologies, and debugging tools
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex issues
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing software for multi-platform environments
Familiarity with networking systems, routers, and distributed systems
Exposure to automation, CI/CD pipelines, and test scripting tools
