Leads multiple aerospace datalink product development teams within an Aircraft Communication, Navigation and Surveillance center of excellence. Oversees avionics system and software development, program execution, quality, budgets, cost and cycle-time reduction, Agile transformation, digital engineering adoption, innovation, stakeholder engagement, and talent management. Requires strong avionics expertise, aerospace software design experience, knowledge of DO-178B/C and ARP4754A, and demonstrated technical and people leadership.

This position will have the responsibility to lead Datalink product line in Aircraft Communication, Navigation & Surveillance Systems (CNS) COE at Bangalore and will be based out of Bangalore. The individual in this role will directly report into the Aero India CNS COE Leader.

Responsibilities

Job Description

  • Lead multiple product development project teams, building continuous improvement culture driving reduction in cycle time (Agile Mindset, Velocity Product Development) and cost (remove waste, standardize practices) with highest quality. Leverage organization best practices and frameworks (Agile, Honeywell Operating System).
  • Must have a very strong background of Avionics domain understanding Aircraft Systems, Functions, Services & Operations.
  • Must have very strong hands-on experience of System/Software design and development of aerospace products of various design assurance levels
  • Accountable for the program execution to meet the program metrics and expectations tied out with CNS management and stakeholders right from QE, Planning, Execution till Delivery & Support.
  • Ensure to drive strong Strategy & Execution practices, Agile execution and responsible for driving 50% Cost and 50% Cycle time reduction across the Programs in alignment with New Product Development Transformation objectives
  • Ensure to build strong MOS with internal (Project teams, Peers, Engineering COEs) and external stakeholders (offering managers, leadership, Cross SBGs) of CNS COE and Aero leadership (in India and global).
  • Drive Transformational initiatives across processes, practices and new technology deployment like AI, Automation, Digital Engineering (MBSE/Digital Twin/Digital Thread).
  • Actively work with CNS leadership team in driving growth and executing STRAP, Annual Operating Plans (AOP), Management Resource Reviews (MRR), GSF (Global Strategic Framework) and Technical Resource Reviews (TRR)
  • Build culture of driving business driven innovation to create a strong pipeline of market & customer backed and technology forward offering pipeline. Actively work with cross functional teams (strategy, marketing, offering management) in front end innovation process (opportunity pipeline, prioritization) resulting in Breakthrough Ideas (BTI) and New NPIs.
  • Drive common core products across multiple Avionics platforms.
  • Forecasts and plans budgets providing guidance to team, reviews and approves program estimates and high value Capital and Operational expenses as defined by authorization guidelines
  • Ensures identification of best-in-class senior talent and drives a culture of ownership in talent identification process and builds the leadership pipeline   
  • Instills a “performance-driven culture” ensuring high levels of employee performance, goal alignment and engagement and ensures the Talent Management processes are aligned with the business strategy

Qualifications

Skills & Qualification:

  • BE/B. Tech or ME/M. Tech with good understanding of Avionics Domain and overall 10-12 Years of work experience
  • Good understanding of RTCA DO-178B/C and ARP4754A guidelines/practices
  • Demonstrated leadership capability including abilities to lead and influence technical, management and customer community
  • Good communication capability including the ability to directly engage and influence audiences in conflict situations
  • Excellent focus on execution should ensure responsiveness to customers, team, and management. 
  • A good people leader, quick to identify people problems, fosters teamwork and ensures transparency and fairness in all actions. 
  • Must be able to mentor / coach / guide experienced engineers/technical leaders reporting into this role.
  • Strong proponent of driving the performance culture in the CNS COE Organization through Honeywell Operating System /Lean Product Development practices.

Skills Required

  • BE/B.Tech or ME/M.Tech degree
  • Good understanding of the avionics domain
  • 10-12 years of work experience
  • Strong understanding of aircraft systems, functions, services, and operations
  • Hands-on experience in system and software design and development for aerospace products across various design assurance levels
  • Knowledge of RTCA DO-178B/C guidelines and practices
  • Knowledge of ARP4754A guidelines and practices
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence technical, management, and customer communities
  • Strong communication and conflict-management skills
  • Excellent execution and responsiveness to customers, teams, and management
  • People leadership skills, including identifying people issues and fostering teamwork
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and guide experienced engineers and technical leaders
  • Experience with Honeywell Operating System or Lean Product Development practices
