Position Summary
Intern works with both Business and IT teams to perform thorough analysis of our business needs, applying Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) techniques and developing solutions to drive strong outcomes. Activities include analyzing client requests, determining integration needs, creating documentation, batch jobs and backend SQL queries using Oracle Database. Successful candidates must display technical aptitude and be curious to try new things and new programming languages.
Primary Position Responsibilities
- Develops, enhances, and maintains software applications under guidance using C#, PL/SQL, Swift, Python, JSON, and REST APIs.
- Assists with database development and data integrity efforts by creating and modifying SQL queries for adhoc and recurring reports.
- Participates in team meetings and business stakeholder meetings to learn requirements and support solution design.
- Gains hands-on experience with enterprise software development practices, including version control, code reviews, testing, and documentation.
- Supports research and troubleshooting of production issues by following established production support documentation and using various standard diagnostic tools.
- Provides technical support for assigned issues while maintaining secure coding standards and best practices.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams such as Business Units, Client Services, Information Security, vendors, and other IT groups as needed to support project and operational goals.
- Complies with established CoServ safety and operating rules, procedures and guidelines including reporting unsafe practices to a supervisor.
- Complies with established CoServ Information Security Handbook, policies, procedures, and guidelines including reporting suspected information security incidents to Tech Support.
Secondary Position Responsibilities
- Attends all required company training for Summer Internship Program.
- Attends monthly department meetings or reviews safety material independently.
- Performs other duties and activities as directed.
Position Requirements
Education and Certifications Required
- High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalency.
- Current or entering Junior or Senior in a qualified college or university, obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
Skills and Abilities Required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to work on multiple tasks.
- Analytical thinker with a technical mindset.
- Fast learner who is flexible and adaptable to change.
- Ability to create and execute SQL queries.
- Ability to use MS Visual Studio IDE for C#.
- Ability to work effectively as a project team member.
Skills and Abilities Preferred
- Knowledge of IDE, API, JSON, Swift, MS SQL Server, Oracle 12c or above.
Physical Requirements
- Operates office equipment such as a computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, etc.
- Indoor, office environment.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
- Ability to drive occasionally as needed.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
- Works extended hours as needed or directed.
- Use computer for extensive periods of time.
Other Requirements
- Must have and maintain a valid Texas driver's license.
- Attends additional required continuing education training and workshops, as assigned.
