You will be providing strategic and tactical technical direction for the initiatives, while collaborating with the engineering organization of Chewy. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background and proven, hands-on experience in managing a team of engineers and maturing team operations. We are looking for smart, driven candidates who want to be part of a culture of innovation and customer service.

What You'll Do:

  • Manage and lead a team(s) of 4-6 experienced Software Engineers in building and managing infrastructure and developer platforms for use by multiple engineering teams within the Chewy organization to deliver software efficiently
  • Drive technical decisions and be accountable for the delivery of highly available and performant Cloud-based platforms that can scale to support a large number of customers
  • Drive the team towards execution of strategic initiatives and manage priorities within the context of overall corporate objectives
  • Iterate quickly in an agile development process, conduct agile ceremonies and remove impediments
  • Ensure timely and consistent communication to facilitate a clear understanding of ongoing projects and their prioritization within the organization
  • Review architecture, design, code and implementations, provide feedback for individual contributors
  • Recruit, mentor and coach high-performing engineers for technical and operational excellence
  • Implement process measurements to ensure quality standards and hold the team accountable
  • Evangelize the platforms across the engineering organization, drive continued adoption and ensure service level agreements are met
  • Establish strong working relationships at all organizational levels and across functional teams
  • Work with others in Engineering Management to drive best practices in platform development, testing, and production deployment
  • Create a dynamic, collaborative, and fun team environment

What You'll Need:

  • Demonstrated history of implementing and managing significant software development projects on AWS, driving and defining best practices and standards with architects and senior engineers
  • 8+ years in Software Engineering including experience in leading the design and delivery of Cloud infrastructure at scale with fully automated stacks in a CI/CD ecosystem, building highly available and fault-tolerant enterprise applications with a sound architecture background, and current hands-on technology infrastructure experience
  • 2+ years of experience in Engineering Management, leading and managing engineers
  • Experience working independently and effectively across multiple functional areas
  • Proven delivery experience working under an Agile/Scrum methodology, performing business requirement analysis and design with strong prioritization skills to identify minimal viable/lovable products
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders in order to ensure development efforts align with stakeholder needs
  • Proven ability to rapidly adapt to changing requirements in an evolving technical landscape
  • Willingness to travel (~10%)
