The Software Development Manager manages a team of developers to design, implement, and maintain software for Sciex products. This is a technical hands-on leadership position, and you will have the opportunity to lead, inspire, coach, and mentor a team of software developers to deliver high quality software efficiently and effectively that is compliant with our quality system.

This position reports to the Director, Software Development and is part of the Software Department located in Concord, Canada and will be an on-site role.  

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Be responsible for managing a software engineering team to design, implement, and maintain software for Sciex products. Provide strong technical leadership and direction to team by supervising architectures and leading to develop the technical roadmap of projects/products.

  • Attract, recruit and retain top-notch talent. Facilitate talent development through performance management and coaching. 

  • Be responsible for the staffing and the execution of multiple projects to ensure they are delivered on time, on budget, with good quality and meets customer needs

  • Create and support an innovative engineering culture focused on quality, technical collaboration, efficiency, ownership, and accountability.

  • Lead and support team in implementing continuous improvement initiatives and best practices

  • Provide project management and technical leadership for every aspect of software development

  • Collaborate and negotiate with personnel inside and outside the departments to ensure effective planning and successful development of software products.

The essential requirements of the job include

  • Possesses a university degree in software/computer/technology/science discipline

  • Minimum of 10 years in the software development industry and a minimum of 5 years experience of leading cross functional teams

  • Strong design and architectural skills in software development. 

  • Hands-on experience with both Desktop and Cloud software development is highly preferred. 

  • Experience with C# & .Net is preferred.

  • Experience/knowledge of agile software development processes is an asset

  • Strong program/project management skills.  Track record in releasing successful software products to market.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience leading teams that deliver AI-enabled solutions or integrating AI/ML models into production systems and/or productivity/process improvements.

  • Experience with Bio/Life Sciences and/or Medical Devices development is preferred.

  • Proactive, great attention to detail, results-oriented problem solver.

  • Self-starter with excellent communication and listening skills.
