About the role
We are seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to lead our data lake / data warehouse team in scaling our platform capabilities at a critical growth stage. In this role, you will coach and mentor your team while navigating the delicate balance between rapidly delivering data infrastructure to meet business commitments and upholding technical excellence in our codebase. With a keen ability to make strategic decisions amidst ambiguity, you will strategically prioritize projects that maximize impact.
You will join Syndio at an exciting juncture as we invest in evolving our platform to meet increasingly complex user needs around workplace equity and fairness analytics. Your software development leadership, guidance, and collaboration in building scalable software solutions will be vital to our product's success. As an advocate for your team, you will create an environment that empowers developers to solve interesting technical challenges and innovate across our product suite.

- Contribute to and guide the organization’s data related best practices, such as process improvements and communication
- Work with the entire organization (backend, frontend, product, and site reliability) to ensure projects meet all team requirements
- Create a culture of diversity and belonging while also leading the hiring processes
- Document, plan, and drive the execution of team decisions
- Our tech stack: Golang and Python on the backend, React and TypeScript on the Frontend, running Kubernetes on GCP. Data Warehouse: BigQuery, Dataflow, etc

- 💰 Competitive Compensation. For this role our base salary is targeted at $158-188k CAD. Final offer amounts are determined by factors such as experience and expertise

Role progression
- Within 1 month, you’ll understand the strengths and weaknesses of our current platform and our engineering squad. You will be working on small designs and projects, formulating opinions / making proposals on improving engineering processes, and mentoring engineers in their personal growth.
- Within 6 months, you’ll be leading efforts to improve the lives of the engineering team and everyone who interacts with them; you’ll be contributing to greater overall happiness of the team.
- Within 12 months, you’ll be celebrating with the team as we’re launching new products and features better than we ever have before.
