What the Role Does:

Lead the team and technology shaping LawDepot’s next generation of AI-powered experiences.

As the Software Development Manager - AI Solutions, you will lead the delivery of AI-powered products and features that create exceptional experiences for millions of users, while helping LawDepot expand the use of AI internally across the organization. You will manage technical team members, guide development practices, collaborate on product strategy and roadmaps, and establish the standards required to deliver secure, scalable, reliable, and valuable AI solutions.

This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week, with the option to work hybrid from our Edmonton, Alberta office or fully remote across Canada.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide technical leadership for the architecture, design, development, deployment, and ongoing improvement of secure, scalable, and reliable AI-powered software solutions

  • Manage Software Developers, Data Scientists, and related technical contributors to create a high-performing team and foster technical excellence

  • Lead the delivery of AI-enabled products and features for our customers, improving the legal solutions experience for millions of users around the world

  • Advocate for and guide AI adoption across LawDepot, helping internal teams improve AI literacy and use AI tools productively, securely, and responsibly.

  • Establish and maintain best practices for AI-Native development, including code authoring, code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, AI evaluation frameworks, production readiness, security, and technical debt management

  • Research, evaluate, and recommend AI tools, development workflows, model integrations, and technology decisions that align with business goals and long term company strategy

  • Own the AI roadmap and prioritize initiatives to ensure work is aligned with business goals, customer needs, technical feasibility, and organizational impact

  • Manage project schedules, scope, work estimates, dependencies, risks, resources, and delivery expectations for AI product initiatives and related software development work to ensure initiatives are completed on time and within budget

  • Set team objectives, establish performance expectations, utilize metrics and data analytics, and conduct performance management to drive accountability and strong execution

  • Mentor and develop team members through coaching, regular feedback, code reviews, knowledge sharing, performance management, career development support, and hiring as the team evolves

  • Partner with Product Owners and cross-functional business stakeholders to define business requirements, align technical work with business goals, and translate customer and internal needs into delivery plans

  • Support responsible AI governance by considering privacy, security, quality, risk, and compliance requirements

What You Bring:

The Essentials

  • Post-secondary education in Computing Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field

  • 5+ years of experience in software development, with 2+ years in a leadership-oriented role managing people, projects, processes, or technical delivery

  • Practical experience delivering AI-enabled products, features, platforms, or technology projects with a focus on quality, scalability, reliability, and on-time delivery

  • Strong understanding of applied AI development and AI-assisted software delivery, such as AI coding tools, LLM integrations, AI evaluation, agentic workflows, MCPs, or AI-native SDLC practices

  • Familiarity with leading AI platforms and tools (ex. Cursor, Claude), with the ability to evaluate their fit for development workflows, product features, and business needs

  • Strong technical leadership skills, including the ability to guide architecture, system design, development, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement of secure and scalable software solutions

  • Ability to build, mentor, and lead high-performing teams

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with team members, stakeholders, and senior leadership to align technical work with company goals

  • Project and delivery management skills, including the ability to own roadmaps, prioritize initiatives, manage scope, schedules, estimates, dependencies, risks, resources, and delivery expectations

  • Ability to evaluate and select platforms, tools, and technologies that align with business goals, budgets, customer needs, and technical feasibility

  • Strong business acumen and analytical judgment, with the ability to use metrics, performance data, and customer insights to guide decisions and drive accountability

  • Familiarity with product management, Scrum, Agile delivery practices, or tools such as Azure Boards

  • Hands-on knowledge of our existing tech stack: C#, .NET 7+, Vue, TypeScript or JavaScript, Microsoft SQL Server, REST APIs, Entity Framework Core, Git, or automated testing frameworks

  • Experience with organizational change management, AI adoption programs, technical transformation, or developer enablement initiatives

  • Ability to create reporting tools / scripts that support business teams, with an understanding of data analysis, data science principles, and how to translate data into actionable insights
