The Core GNSS QA team is seeking a motivated problem-solver to automate our extensive regression test suite. You will directly enhance software quality and accelerate release cycles by developing automated tests utilizing Python and JavaScript, ensuring centimeter-level accuracy for autonomous machines and precise layout workflows worldwide.

The AI SDET is responsible for improving the quality of software releases through automation processes and tools enhancements. Working in an agile development environment, the AI SDET will develop and apply customized AI testing methodologies to show measurable improvements to the released software. This includes responsibility for using AI to automate test cases and pipeline workflows to accelerate our testing and release cycles.

You’ll spearhead the evolution of our testing maturity, managing an extensive network of GNSS receivers to guarantee our world-leading positioning engines deliver unrivaled precision. Beyond traditional methods, you will pioneer the integration of autonomous AI agents and multi-tool AI workflows to redefine quality assurance for the next generation of positioning technology.

Key Exciting Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain automated regression test suites using Python and JavaScript to streamline manual testing efforts.

  • Collaborate with global, cross-functional teams to integrate automated testing into the full software development lifecycle.

  • Drive the evolution of our "digital-to-physical" bridge by ensuring the reliability of firmware across all global satellite constellations.

  • Resolve technical bottlenecks and optimize test cycles to accelerate the delivery of high-precision positioning engines.

  • Present test results through innovative frontend solutions to provide clear data-driven insights to stakeholders.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of software development or automated testing experience with a BSEE, BSCS, or equivalent degree.

  • Proficiency in Python for backend development and receiver interaction, and JavaScript for frontend results presentation.

  • Hands-on experience with Git, BitBucket, and Shell/Terminal within a CI/CD environment.

  • Strong understanding of Ethernet computer networks and serial communication protocols.

  • MCP server experience.

  • Strong understanding of AI basic concepts (Cursor, Claude, others).

  • Ability to create automations using multiple AI tools in a QA environment.

  • Prior experience in test automation and scripting in Python, JavaScript.

  • Strong understanding of QA processes.

  • Knowledge of cloud and virtualization testing environments and deployment testing.

  • Strong technical skills.

  • Experience with QA-related tools for requirements management, test management, and defect tracking 

  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and solve complex technical problems with a proactive mindset.

Bonus Points For:

  • Specific experience with GNSS receiver technology or high-precision positioning systems.

  • Knowledge of Linux environments.

  • Familiar with embedded AI and chatbot testing techniques

  • AI test automation is a plus.

Logistics:

  • Location: Sunnyvale, CA (In Office)

  • Travel Requirement: Available for limited and preplanned travel, seldom internationally, to support testing initiatives.

Compensation:  Trimble provides the following compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that it in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position. This compensation range is based on a full time schedule. Trimble reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, or federal law.
