As a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), you will specialize in testing back-end applications and processes. We seek a self-motivated individual to thrive in a fast-paced, technologically diverse environment. To succeed in this role, you will automate testing back-end infrastructure, APIs, and business logic for Vonage’s billing and rating platform. The individual will work as part of an Agile Team and be responsible for the generation of Automated Test Cases, for the Continuous Integration Pipeline, Test Planning, and Test Execution to ensure Vonage customers receive the most accurate invoice possible.
What will you do
- Build and maintain scalable, version-controlled automation frameworks using Python, Pytest, and GitHub, supporting a streamlined CI pipeline.
- Collaborate with developers to design test plans, create and automate test cases, and validate functionality across a complex microservices architecture.
- Work with a broad range of technologies, including AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, MongoDB, JSON, Postman, Helm, Concourse, and GitHub Copilot.
- Own and execute both individual component testing and end-to-end integration flows to ensure high-quality software delivery.
- Use tools like JIRA to document, track, and escalate bugs or enhancements, ensuring visibility and accountability across teams.
- Partner closely with Developers, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters to review features, refine requirements, and support Agile delivery.
- Maintain clear, organized documentation and foster effective communication across teams to support continuous improvement and product stability.
What you'll bring
Our Tech Stack is broad, and can vary from API to API, therefore we are looking to speak with Engineers with 4+ years of experience across a number of the following areas (by no means do we expect you to have experience with all!):
- Proficiency in one or more scripting or development languages such as Python, Go, or Bash, with at least 3 years of test automation experience.
- Background in testing multi-tier and distributed applications, including microservices, Kafka, and RESTful web services.
- Familiarity with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and a strong understanding of XML, JSON, and XSLT for validating data and system integration.
- Hands-on experience testing REST and SOAP APIs using tools like Postman and SoapUI, along with the ability to develop robust automation scripts.
- Experience working with Docker/Kubernetes and exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, CI/CD and Infrastructure Knowledge
- Understanding of continuous integration pipelines, with the ability to manage complex system infrastructure tasks from requirements to production.
- Highly organized and independent, with a proven ability to document, track, and escalate issues effectively while working cross-functionally in a team environment.
