Your role:
BU Custom Plug-in DevelopmentDesign and develop Business Unit-specific Backstage plugins using TypeScript and React
Implement portal features for compliance automation and team-specific developer experiences
Integrate BU tooling APIs (JIRA, ServiceNow, Artifactory, quality tools) into portal dashboards
Build data visualization components for engineering metrics and modernization progress
Create custom UI components using Backstage component library and design system
Maintain plugin quality through comprehensive testing, documentation, and code reviews
Enable BUs to adopt documentation-as-code practices through Backstage TechDocs
Support BU teams in migrating existing documentation to TechDocs format (Markdown, MkDocs)
Integrate documentation into developer onboarding workflows and portal navigation
Build Backstage software templates that encode organizational best practices
Implement custom scaffolder actions for automated project creation workflows
Develop templates that integrate with Code Hub platform capabilities (GitHub, runners, quality gates)
Build custom Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers on top of foundational AI layer
Expose BU domain context into AI workflows (clinical knowledge, platform APIs, regulatory constraints, architecture standards)
Integrate custom MCP servers into Developer Portal and IDE workflows
Support BUs in leveraging AI augmentation with domain-specific intelligence
Contribute to core Developer Portal features and improvements
Optimize portal performance, user experience, and accessibility
Integrate Dev Lake engineering metrics into portal dashboards
Develop portal features that surface craftsmanship assessment outcomes
Minimum required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology OR Vocational Education in Information Technology or equivalent.
Minimum required Experience:
5- 8 years of software development experience with modern web technologies (TypeScript, React, or similar frameworks)
Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent.
Preferred Skills:
You're the right fit if:
Solid foundation in software development, with proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, or C#).
Interest in developer experience, platform tooling, and building internal products that improve how developers work.
Basic familiarity with cloud hosting concepts and AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, S3, or CloudWatch (hands-on experience preferred).
Exposure to CI/CD workflows, GitHub Actions, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform is a plus).
Willingness to learn and work with Backstage, React/TypeScript, and related open-source technologies.
Strong collaboration and communication skills—you enjoy helping others and learning from your peers.
Experience in Backstage framework or providing Platform Engineering services at scale in an Enterprise is a plus.
