Team Introduction

Our team is responsible for the data backbone of our traveler and partner servicing ecosystem. We focus on providing high-fidelity, contextual data for both operational and analytical needs, powered by a modern, distributed tech stack. We build and manage Tier-1 applications that require sub-second latency and high reliability, ensuring that every interaction in the traveler journey is backed by the best data and AI technology available.

In this role, you will:

• Design and implement robust, scalable services and components, including system design (LLD), API design, and data modeling for high‑throughput, distributed computing and event processing architectures.

• Build, extend, and maintain back‑end and/or full‑stack systems that are reliable, observable, and secure, ensuring high availability and performance across multiple domains and services.

• Own end‑to‑end delivery of complex technical features, from technical design and implementation through testing, deployment, and operational support in production environments.

• Safely integrate and operate AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve outcomes, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.

• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other partners to translate business and customer requirements into technical solutions that are reusable and extensible across multiple product areas.

• Drive engineering excellence by advocating for code quality, automated testing, operational readiness, and continuous improvement of distributed, event‑driven systems and development practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Extensive professional software development experience, including ownership of complex services or components within a distributed, service‑oriented or microservices environment.

• Proven ability to design and implement clean APIs, low‑level designs, and data models for scalable, event‑driven and transaction‑heavy systems.

• Strong programming skills in one or more modern languages, with solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, concurrency, and distributed computing fundamentals.

• Demonstrated experience owning the full software development lifecycle for one or more services, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and incident participation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Deep experience designing and evolving distributed computing and event processing architectures that operate at large scale, with a focus on resiliency, throughput, and fault isolation.

• Track record of technical leadership on complex projects, including influencing architecture, establishing patterns for APIs and data models, and raising the bar for quality and operational excellence.

• Hands‑on experience with high‑volume, event‑driven or streaming systems, including patterns for exactly‑once or at‑least‑once processing, idempotency, and back‑pressure management.

• Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products, including safely integrating AI/ML‑enabled capabilities into production services and optimizing their performance and reliability.

• Experience building and operating highly observable services (metrics, logs, traces), using data to drive decisions on capacity planning, performance tuning, and continuous improvement of distributed, event‑driven platforms.
