Position Summary:
The Software Engineer II (SE II) in Solution Test is responsible for the implementation and testing of customer specific scenarios/use-cases of our F5 AI, BIG-IP, Nginx and F5 Distributed Cloud products, with a focus on F5 App Delivery and Security. This includes creating test scenarios and automating them across F5 Application Delivery and Security Platform (ADSP) key categories such as AI solutions (e.g., F5 AI Guardrails, F5 AI Gateway, AI Red Teaming, LLM Model Security and Observability), app delivery (e.g., BIG-IP traffic management), security (e.g., NGINX WAF), and automation (e.g., F5 XC orchestration). The work includes creating and publishing technical content, demos for customers for internal sales consumption. SE IIs are assigned multiple feature areas and will regularly work with team members in geographically dispersed locations. They will also collaborates with internal personnel in areas of expertise. SEs exhibit strong competence utilizing various troubleshooting tools, facilities and equipment in the course of debugging issues found during work. SEs build relationships with team members and accept ownership of features.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Works both independently and with senior engineers to understand product requirements, customer specific scenarios, architecture and new feature designs, incorporating F5 AI products like AI Guardrails, BIG-IP, NGINX and Distributed Cloud.
- Publishing and creating technical content and demos for internal teams and customers, highlighting App Delivery and Security alongside traditional app delivery.
- Implements automated tests and infrastructure that provide feature coverage across ADSP categories including AI security, App Delivery and Security.
- Develop automated test systems to replicate real world scenarios that can be plugged into a continuous integration environment, testing F5 products and solutions
- Participates actively in code review process; posting scripts, incorporating feedback along with reviewing automation submitted by other team members.
- Analyze and evaluate test results, report and assist in resolution of product issues.
- Proactively and effectively communicates status, plan-of-action, and resolution of issues.
- Works affectively to deliver on planned and committed schedules.
Knowledge and Skills
- Experience with AI-powered tools and Large Language Models (LLMs) is highly desirable, including F5 AI products like AI Gateway and LLM Security.
- Familiarity with crafting effective AI prompts and evaluating AI-generated outputs is preferred.
- Test automation experience with Python is required.
- Good knowledge in security and networking
- Good Knowledge on any one cloud technologies (AWS, Azure or GCP) is required.
- Knowledge of containerization: Docker, Kubernetes.
- Knowledge on OWASP API Security, LLM is an added advantage.
- Should be proficient in L2/L3 network protocol testing.
- Experience with Github or other source control management tools preferred.
- CI/CD and Agile software development experience.
- Strong organizational skills, analytical skills, attention to detail and excellent problem solving/troubleshooting skills.
- Strong experience in networking and working knowledge of HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP required.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of professional experience in the testing and/or development of computer software, preferably in the Linux environment.
- Experience working with geographically dispersed teams preferred.
- BA/BS degree in computer/engineering related field or equivalent work experience.
