We are looking for a Software Developer to augment the OIT State Health Information Processing System (SHIPS) project team, supporting financial tasks for Plan Year 2026, including the transfer of C.375 and C.172 billing to Businessolver. This position will be a full‑time contract and is hybrid in Trenton, NJ.
What You’ll Do
Complete assigned development and support tasks under the direction of a senior SHIPS project team member or Project Manager
Contribute to the ongoing support and enhancement of the SHIPS system, particularly as it relates to financial processing and billing transitions
Produce clear, accurate project and technical documentation using MS Word and MS Excel
Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with OIT SHIPS supervisors and project stakeholders
Participate in a structured, process‑driven environment supporting critical state systems
Work a 40‑hour week during core hours of 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Flexible work schedules are not permitted
Work will be hybrid
Overtime may be required based on project needs and timelines

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Physical Demands
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
Sedentary work, involving sitting or remaining stationary most of the time, with occasional movement to attend meetings or collaborate with team members
Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor

$50 per hourThe pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
