Leidos is seeking an experienced Software Developer to join the Alaska Automation Capability (AAC) program which will utilize functionality provided by our current Future Flight Services Program (FFSP) product for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This person will be a member of a dynamic team working on the development of software that provides flight planning and other services to the pilot community. AAC uses an Agile Scrum framework for its development teams and all team members are expected to be active contributors to the team across a variety of functions, including but not limited to release and sprint planning, execution of software development and test tasks, and assisting with the investigation and resolution of defects. Knowledge and experience in full-stack development is required. Java is the primary language used for development along with various front-end and scripting languages, as well as Python. Experience with Linux systems is required.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for software development activities both individually and as a member of a team including writing, testing, debugging, and maintaining source code within an Agile Scrum environment.
- Actively participate in daily stand-ups, Release Planning, and other related team activities.
- Write and execute unit and functional tests.
- Troubleshoot and participate in the resolution of technical issues in lab and operational environments.
- Provide support as needed for system engineering, test engineering, and system owner teams.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field with 2-4 years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree with less than 2 years of experience.
- Experience with Java programming language
- Experience with Web development and commonly used front-end tools and languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React)
- Experience with Linux
- Experience with version control systems such as Git or Subversion
- Experience with common development tools and IDEs (Eclipse, VS Code, etc)
- Knowledge of unit testing tools such as Junit and Mockito
- Understanding of sound software development principles and practices
- Ability to plan and prioritize personal tasking and be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Independent thinker, capable of performing high quality work, both independently and with a team in a fast-moving environment
- Ability to obtain SF-85
- US citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of or experience working within the Agile Scrum framework
- Knowledge of or experience with RESTful API, JSON, XML, XSD
- Knowledge of or experience with Spring Framework, Spring Security, and Spring Boot
- Knowledge of or experience with Python programming language
- Knowledge of or experience with Ansible playbooks and YAML
- Knowledge of or experience with Linux shell scripting
- Knowledge of or experience with MongoDB
- Knowledge of air traffic control and flight services
