Leidos Dynetics’ Advanced Materials Department is seeking a passionate, detail-oriented problem-solver to serve as a Software Developer. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.
The Advanced Materials Department is a multi-disciplinary team that provides materials engineering expertise for every phase of a program. With backgrounds in materials science, chemistry/chemical engineering, and physics, among others, the department has experience in executing a variety of efforts from R&D, to prototype development, to supporting design-and-build tasks for manufacturing. Beyond subject matter expertise, the department has the analysis equipment, multi-physics modelling capability and experimental lab space to support activities ranging from proof-of-concept experimentation to manufacturing.
Primary Responsibilities
- As an integral member of the Advanced Materials Department, the successful candidate will serve as Software Developer. This position will balance multiple activities including but not limited to:
- Assist system administration with supporting, troubleshooting, and maintaining networks and computer systems that are utilized within the department.
- Software development with a focus on full-stack applications with user input that interact with databases and other third-party applications.
- Software development with a focus on hardware-based applications that interface with various sensor devices.
- Solving complex engineering challenges with both analytical and experimental approaches.
- Collaborating with a team, management, and the department to gather requirements, analyze problems, and design solutions for software focused tasks.
Basic Qualifications
- Must currently possess a bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA in Computer Science, Software Development, Cyber Security Engineering, or a similar major from an accredited college or university.
- Interest in or experience with system and network administration is preferred.
- Must be a US Citizen and eligible to obtain a Secret security clearance.
- Resident of North Alabama area or willing to relocate in order to work on-site at the Huntsville, AL office.
- Ability to work in both collaborative team environments and independently.
- Experience with technical leadership on work or academic projects.
- Experience with technical leadership applying high-level goals to guide tasking through project completion.
- Experience in basic software development on projects for hardware-based applications, website applications, scripting, or similar development environments.
- Some experience with databases utilizing tools such as SQL, PostgreSQL, or other similar utilities.
- Interest & motivation in learning hardware and website application development.
- Interest in supporting system administration while maintaining a focus on software development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Development experience with two or more of the following languages/frameworks: JavaScript, Rust, Typescript, C++, C, Python, HTML/CSS, Bash, PowerShell.
- Experience or interest in system/network administration with a focus in cybersecurity management.
