We are seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain modern data solutions supporting critical Intelligence Community operations. This position will work within a collaborative Agile team alongside software engineers, data engineers, and mission stakeholders to develop scalable data pipelines, optimize cloud-based data platforms, and enable the efficient movement and transformation of data across complex environments.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise ETL processes and data pipelines
- Build Python-based solutions for data ingestion, transformation, and processing
- Integrate structured and unstructured data across multiple systems and environments
- Design and support scalable data solutions within AWS environments
- Improve data quality, platform performance, scalability, and operational efficiency
- Troubleshoot data issues and support production operations and system sustainment
- Develop automation to improve the reliability and performance of data engineering processes
- Support testing, deployment, and maintenance of data platform capabilities
- Participate in Agile sprint planning, backlog refinement, and technical reviews
- Develop technical documentation, data flow diagrams, and operational procedures
Required Qualifications
- Must be fully cleared with a recent polygraph
- Must be willing and able to work fully onsite at the location listed in this posting
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent education and experience
- Approximately 4–8 years of professional data engineering, software engineering, or related experience
- Demonstrated experience designing and maintaining ETL processes and enterprise data pipelines
- Strong Python development experience
- Hands-on AWS experience with services such as EC2, Lambda, EKS, and S3
- Experience supporting scalable data platforms and production data workflows
- Understanding of data modeling, data integration, and performance optimization
- Experience working within Agile software development environments
Desired Qualification
- Experience with Apache Airflow or similar workflow orchestration platforms
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Experience working with large-scale datasets and distributed processing frameworks
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Skills Required

- Approximately 10+ years of professional software development experience
- Expert-level full-stack experience using Java and/or Python and RESTful APIs
- Expert-level front-end experience using JavaScript and Angular
- Experience designing and developing enterprise software applications
- Experience working within Agile software development environments
- Strong understanding of software architecture and application design
- Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming principles
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and mission stakeholders
- Experience with Apache Spark for distributed data processing
- Experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch
- Experience developing cloud-native applications within AWS
- Experience developing applications using Spring Boot
- Experience designing and implementing microservices or distributed system architectures
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (containerized application development and deployment)
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab, or similar automation platforms
