We are seeking a skilled 

Software Developer for Mission Support Systems (d/f/m)

to join our team at Airbus Defence and Space GmbH, focusing on the design, development, and maintenance of mission-critical software systems that support our defense and space operations.

In Platform Operational Support, we develop Mission Planning Systems, consisting of commercial IT-Infrastructure and custom software, for all flying platforms in our portfolio, including Eurofighter, A400M, Eurodrone, Tornado, and Future Platforms.

Your tasks and responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy robust and scalable software solutions for mission support systems.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineers, software engineers, DevOps and Operational Advisors, to define software requirements and specifications.

  • Implement software components according to architectural guidelines and coding standards.

  • Conduct unit, integration, and system testing to ensure software quality and reliability.

  • Troubleshoot and debug software issues, providing timely resolutions and preventative measures.

  • Participate in code reviews, contributing to the continuous improvement of software development processes and best practices.

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for software designs, implementations, and testing.

  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends relevant to mission-critical software development.

Desired skills and qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Proven experience in software development, preferably in a defense, aerospace, or other highly regulated industry.

  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such such as Java or Phyton.

  • Experience with real-time operating systems and embedded systems is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum) and version control systems (e.g., Git).

  • Familiarity with secure coding practices and DO-278 Standard.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required; proficiency in German is a plus.
