Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer II to join our engineering team. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications, working on both backend and frontend systems, and contributing to the overall growth and innovation of our public safety product offerings. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions while continuously improving your technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Software Development: Design, implement, test, and maintain high-quality software solutions that align with business needs and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with product owners, designers, and other engineers to understand product requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
  • Code Quality & Testing: Ensure code quality by writing clean, efficient, and well-documented code. Perform unit testing, integration testing, and code reviews.
  • Debugging & Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve software defects, production issues, and technical problems.
  • System Design & Architecture: Contribute to the design and architecture of software applications, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay up to date with company standards, technologies, and best practices, and apply them to improve the development process and product functionality. 
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to junior engineers, reviewing code and offering constructive feedback to foster team growth.
  • Development Process: Participate in the team’s development process, including sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives. Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
  • Education: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience and training.
  • Experience: 2-5 years of professional experience in software development.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as C# or Java.
  • Familiarity with Desktop Frameworks: familiarity with desktop development frameworks (e.g., WPF, WinUI, WinForms).
  • Database Knowledge: Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar.
  • Version Control: Experience with Git and other version control systems.
  • Testing Frameworks: Familiarity with unit testing and integration testing frameworks.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and debugging skills with a focus on problem-solving and solution delivery.
  • Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with agile development practices, including Scrum or Kanban.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Web Development: Experience with front-end technologies (JavaScript/Angular) and back-end API technologies (ASP.net, etc)
  • Cloud Platforms: Experience with cloud services like AWS or Azure.
  • DevOps Tools: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, AzureDevOps, etc..), Docker, Kubernetes, or other DevOps tools.
  • API Architecture and Management: Experience designing or working with restful API’s, API based architecture, and API Management tools.
  • Additional Languages/Technologies: Knowledge of additional programming languages (e.g., python, PowerShell, etc.) or frameworks (e.g., WPF, WinForms, react, mobile app development technologies like Kotlin, swift, flutter, etc.).
