POSITION: Software Developer, Front End Web Development
DUTIES: The Software Developer, Front End Web Development, develops, creates, and modifies software solutions within specification and performance capabilities with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency, analyzes user needs, and develops related software solutions. The Software Developer, Front End Web Development develops software solutions and translates digital designs into production-ready web assets that work across all use cases, devices and browsers by applying highly complex technical analysis of user needs to produce technically sustainable and functional digital components that integrate with existing technical infrastructure to maintain a consistent brand experience across The Jackson Laboratory’s (JAX’s) digital properties. Reporting to the Associate Director, Digital Product and working within the JAX Communications and Marketing department apply deep knowledge of CSS, HTML and Javascript and serves as a critical link in building a scalable system to translate business requirements into functional, production-quality digital components. The Software Developer, Front End Web Development reviews, modifies, and codes complex interactivity on top of the Sitecore platform, including implementing machine learning capabilities, module creation, search applications, templating, API development, and personalization. The Software Developer, Front End Web Development analyses problems, identifies and implements solutions, and corrects errors following best practices for code updates to production. Responsibilities include production of high-quality web components using well-formed and clearly structured code; interfacing with UX Designer and internal clients to define technical needs; analyzing information to support Senior Web Architects in maintaining web development operations systems to ensure clean, error free deployments; analyzing metrics to evaluate success of new features and improve, manage testing systems and determine feasibility of design, capabilities, and processing specification and requirements; optimizing existing pages and performing web maintenance; and developing HTML5, CSS, JavaScript in a high-volume production environment.
RATE OF PAY: Between $70,533 and $108,857 per year.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field (will accept bachelor’s degree equivalent combination of education and/or experience based upon equivalency evaluation by qualified credential evaluator) and 1 year of software engineering or development experience working as part of an Agile development team developing HTML5, CSS, JavaScript in a high-volume production environment. All qualified applicants must have experience with the following proficiencies/skills over a period of 12 months: building scalable system to translate business requirements into functional, production-quality digital components using CMS platforms (e.g., Sitecore, Contentstack), Git version control, and agile ticketing systems; executing front-end development as the sole developer on high-volume projects for biomedical research methodology, delivering responsive, production-ready interfaces; executing front-end development in compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines; reviewing and optimizing existing front-end code to improve page load time; and working with UX designers to review and improve user experience.
