About the role
Our Shopify Engineering Team is looking to hire a Software Developer for a 6-month contract, with the possibility of extension or transition into a permanent role. This position is remote for candidates based in Winnipeg.
We’re looking for someone who thrives on owning their work from concept to production, loves to solve problems, and is always eager to learn and grow. If you’re passionate about producing high-quality software and want to expand your technical skills in a collaborative environment, Bold is the place for you.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with Product and Design to build meaningful solutions for our brands
- Design, build, and maintain scalable systems and APIs that handle high traffic
- Own development tasks from unit testing to production releases
- Debug issues, resolve bugs, and support incident response
- Participate in Agile team practices (stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives) and user story discussions
- Communicate progress, surface delivery concerns, and contribute to team documentation
What we’re looking for
- Completion of a post-secondary program in Computer Science (or a related field)
- 1 - 2 years of experience as a software developer with a solid grasp of the software development lifecycle
- Strong coding skills with a focus on testability, maintainability, scalability, and security
- Experience with PHP, Go, JavaScript, React, and Laravel is a strong asset
- Familiarity with GitHub and common development workflows
- Experience working with an ecommerce platform like Shopify is a plus
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, Agile-driven environment
Bonus Points If You Have
- Experience working with Shopify or ecommerce platforms
- Familiarity with machine learning techniques, experimentation frameworks, or behavioral analytics
- Prior work in early-stage product development or startup environments
