We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Software Engineer to help advance the next generation of network security products. In this role, you will work on high-performance deep packet inspection, intrusion prevention, and advanced threat protection technologies that protect customers across complex, real-world network environments. This is a senior, hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving challenging problems, working with low-level network protocols, and building robust, scalable security features that operate at massive scale.
Responsibilities- Design and enhance the high-performance, reassembly-free Deep Packet Inspection engine
- Develop and improve Intrusion Prevention, Gateway Anti-Virus, and related next-generation firewall features
- Design and implement advanced malware sandboxing and threat protection capabilities
- Write clean, efficient, well-documented code and maintain it using industry-standard source control tools
- Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and performance optimization initiatives
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with a Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD, or equivalent practical experience (post-graduate degree preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in C programming, with a strong emphasis on data structures and algorithms.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts and protocol behavior
- Strong background in Unix or Linux systems development environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including analytical and critical-thinking ability
- Strong attention to detail — include the phrase “IDP/GAV” in your final application response
- Proven ability in problem-solving, debugging, and software testing
- Self-driven, highly motivated, and able to work independently while contributing to team goals
- Deep knowledge of Layer 3–Layer 7 protocols (HTTP, SMTP, FTP, TLS, SSH, etc.)
- Experience working with firewalls or embedded systems development
- Knowledge of pattern-matching or compression algorithms
- Experience working with state machines or computational theory concepts
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities
