The Role

As a Business Analyst for Kardex AutoStore North America, you will create and maintain clear, concise, and accurate functional specifications for the Kardex software solution for AutoStore systems. You will work closely with stakeholders, product managers, and developers to ensure that software solutions meet business requirements and user needs. You will play a key part in gathering, analyzing, and documenting business requirements, while also helping to bridge the gap between the technical team and business stakeholders. You will help maintain official product documentation.

An automated warehouse revolves around the effective orchestration of hardware and software systems. Kardex provides highly reliable and precise mechanical solutions but also an intelligent and configurable warehouse execution system (WES).  

Kardex’s software solution for AutoStore is a proven modular software platform, leveraging over 30 years of research and development to seamlessly interface with any host system.  Our software development team, centrally located in Cincinnati, OH, focuses exclusively on AutoStore integration, applicable subsystems and processes which provides the most reliable and comprehensive AutoStore software solution on the market. 

Your tasks

Job Purpose 

Requirements Gathering and Analysis: Collaborate with stakeholders (product owners, managers, clients) to identify, analyze, and document business requirements for new software features or enhancements. 

Documentation: Create clear, detailed functional specifications, use cases, user stories, and process flows to communicate requirements effectively to both technical and non-technical teams. Maintain official product documentation. 

Data Analysis: Analyze business data to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for improving business operations or software functionality. 

Quality Assurance Support: Work with QA teams to ensure that software products meet the defined business requirements, providing clarification when needed and validating completed features. 

Solution Validation: Participate in solution testing, validating that the delivered product meets business needs and aligning with user requirements. 

Risk Management: Identify and assess risks and provide mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery. 

Travel: Travel domestically and possibility internationally, maximum travel estimate is 20% 

Job Requirements 

Training/Education: 

Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). 

Excellent communication skills 

Professional Experience: 

Proven experience (4+ years) as a Business Analyst for a software development team. 

Familiarity with software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall) and an understanding of basic technical concepts like databases, APIs, and front-end/back-end development. 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences. 

Creative thinking and the ability to provide solutions to complex business and technical problems. 

Proficiency in business analysis and project management tools like Jira, Confluence, MS Visio, and others. 

Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills. 

Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 

Experience with API documentation, software localization, or user interface (UI) documentation is a plus. 

Other Experiences: 

Experience supporting and developing Warehouse control systems is preferred. 

Experience with coordinating and collaborating with cross functional teams through multiple pieces of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) 

Detailed understanding of logistics and IT processes
