We are currently on the lookout for a Software Architect to join our team.
The Role:
Design and document cloud-native, scalable, modular, and secure architectures on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using Java/NodeJS and modern frameworks.
Lead the architecture and implementation of GCP-first solutions, leveraging managed services and cloud-native design principles.
Define and enforce architectural standards, patterns, and best practices with a strong emphasis on cloud architecture (GCP).
Evaluate and recommend technologies, frameworks, and tools with preference toward GCP ecosystem services.
Develop proof-of-concept solutions leveraging GCP services (e.g., Cloud Run, GKE, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions).
Partner closely with product, engineering, and DevOps teams to align business goals with cloud transformation and modernization strategies.
Drive cloud migration strategies, including re-platforming and re-architecting legacy systems to GCP.
Ensure solutions meet high standards of scalability, reliability, availability, and cost optimization in GCP.
Identify and resolve architectural bottlenecks, especially across distributed cloud systems.
Lead code and architecture reviews to ensure adherence to cloud and engineering best practices.
Establish and advocate for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation practices (e.g., Terraform, Deployment Manager).
Create clear and comprehensive cloud architecture documentation and reference architectures.
Communicate technical designs effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
The Profile:
A first degree in Computer Science from a recognized university; a relevant master’s degree is an added qualification.
A minimum of ten years of experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Core Technical Requirements:
Extensive experience with Java/NodeJS, Spring Boot etc, and enterprise application development.
Proven expertise in designing microservices, RESTful APIs, and event-driven architectures.
Strong, hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including:
Compute: GKE, Cloud Run, Compute Engine
Data: BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Firestore, Spanner
Integration: Pub/Sub, Eventarc
Storage: Cloud Storage
Networking & Security: VPC, IAM, Cloud Armor
Demonstrated experience designing cloud-native architectures and distributed systems on GCP.
Strong knowledge of cloud design patterns, including resiliency, scalability, observability, and cost optimization.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines in GCP environments (Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
Expertise in containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, GKE).
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
Strong understanding of observability tools (Stackdriver/Cloud Monitoring, Logging, tracing tools).
Familiarity with messaging systems (Kafka, Pub/Sub, RabbitMQ).
Solid experience with database systems (SQL and NoSQL) and caching strategies.
Strong grasp of application security, DevSecOps, and cloud security best practices.
Additional Expectations:
Experience leading cloud transformation initiatives or large-scale migrations to GCP (highly preferred).
Ability to mentor teams and drive adoption of cloud-first engineering culture.
Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
Ability to influence stakeholders and clearly articulate architectural decisions.
