Software Architect

Loopio is looking for a passionate and endlessly curious Software Architect to build and support all the aspects of our platform development. You will be joining the team of talented Engineers and Architects on the mission to support and enable our software development teams to deliver cutting edge features to our customers with high speed and confidence in an automated and repeatable process. This role requires close collaboration with teams across Canada, the UK, and India. To accommodate the time zone differences, you will be expected to work from 11 am to 7:30 pm IST.

• Define and evolve the architecture across application, services, integrations, data, and infrastructure layers.

• Translate product requirements into architectural designs and concrete feature work; influence roadmaps and drive system-level decision-making across teams.

• Create and maintain reference architectures, patterns, and guidelines used across teams.

• Design and develop an organization-wide API strategy based on industry standards and best practices.

• Drive non-functional requirements into roadmaps (scalability, reliability, performance, observability, and security).

• Investigate next-generation technologies and incorporate relevant industry trends into architectures.

• Lead the design and implementation of complex, cross-cutting product features from discovery to rollout.

• Break down architecture into executable delivery plans (stories, technical tasks, milestones) with engineering teams.

• Contribute hands-on code for critical paths, spikes, and reference implementations.

• Help teams diagnose failures and identify root causes; manage risk identification and mitigation strategies.

• Provide leadership in standards, architectural governance, design patterns, and engineering best practices (testing, code quality, APIs, observability, resilience).

• Participate in and improve architecture review forums and major technical decision-making.

• Ensure architectures and implementations align with information security standards (data protection, access control, secure development practices, PII data handling).

• Work with PMs and tech leads to identify and propose the best solution for business problems; communicate trade-offs and risks to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Mentor engineers through coaching, design and code reviews; lead by example in deep dives and incident retrospectives.

• 10+ years of professional software development experience, including 3+ years in an architect/principal/staff capacity.

• Proven experience designing and shipping impactful SaaS product features at scale (ideally multi-tenant B2B).

• Experience with microservice-based architecture and Strong system design skills (service boundaries/domain modeling, data modeling and migrations, integration patterns like events/webhooks/third-party APIs, caching and performance optimization).

• Deep experience with backend technologies and APIs (REST and/or GraphQL; message queues); strong web technology stack knowledge.

• Data expertise: relational databases plus at least one of NoSQL/search/analytics stores; knowledge of SQL and NoSQL.

• AI/LLM familiarity (e.g., OpenAI/Claude, embeddings, NLP) and applying AI patterns to product features.

• Strong focus on quality and delivery: testing best practices, code review, and continuous delivery.

• Security fundamentals (authentication/authorization, encryption, secrets management, secure coding).

• Excellent communication and ability to influence across teams; comfortable in a remote-friendly environment.

• Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/Swarm).

• Cloud and infrastructure-as-code experience (e.g., AWS plus Terraform/CloudFormation).

• DevOps knowledge (CI/CD, automation, deployment, multi-environment configuration).

• Experience with RFP, security questionnaire, and knowledge management domains.

• Experience with multi-region architectures, data residency, advanced availability/DR, data/analytics/ML-driven features, or leading an architecture guild.

• Experience in Cost optimization initiatives on development and infrastructure

Where You’ll Work 📍

• Loopio is a global company, HQ’d in Canada, that embraces flexible and effective work models. While many of our teams operate remotely, this role is part of a new, strategic product team that will work in a hybrid model to accelerate innovation and foster deep collaboration.

• This hybrid role will likely be based in one of our key India hubs: Ahmedabad, with the expectation of working from our co-working space 3 days per week. This approach is intentionally designed to give you the best of both worlds: high-impact, in-person collaboration with your team to drive impactful product initiatives, and the flexibility of focused work-from-home days.

• Our employees (or Loopers, as we call ourselves!) live and work in 🇨🇦 Canada (British Columbia and Ontario), 🇬🇧 London, and 🇮🇳 India (specifically in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Bengaluru).

• Our India/UK hub employees work according to business hours stated in the job description above. This is intentionally designed to enable our global teams to have overlapping hours for collaboration.

• You’ll collaborate with your immediate team in person and with our global teams virtually across the UK, Canada, and the US (we’re just a Zoom call and Slack message away!), with core sync hours and focus time for headsdown work 🙇🏾 during the workday
