The RoleIn this role, you will help shape the architecture as AspenTech transitions to a platform delivery model for application enablement. This developing platform will facilitate shared capabilities across various business units to boost adoption, innovation, and development velocity. We are particularly looking for a lead architect to establish the architectural vision for Aspen Tech's Data Platform Services group. This group is tasked with connecting to operational technology (OT) systems to collect, aggregate, and service data for AspenTech's extensive range of industrial applications. This presents the unique challenge of addressing both on-premise and cloud deployment needs. All of this will be accomplished using the latest technologies in a dynamic and collaborative setting. Specific on-the-job training will be provided.

- Evaluate feasibility and develop approach for integrating new feature and product requests into a complex distributed system.
- Collaborate with other professionals to develop high-level product specifications and system architecture with attention to system integration, security, and reliability.
- Communicate system and software specifications to development team.
- Oversee progress of development team to ensure consistency with initial design and work with team to manage and communicate change.
- Provide technical guidance and coaching to developers and junior architects.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field.
- Experience developing software in various software languages (C, C++ (preferred), C#, Java, JavaScript, etc.).
- 8+ years job experience in complex distributed system design and architecture.
- 3+ years job experience in cloud native architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience with inter-process communication, networking, and common networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, SOAP, REST, DNP, etc.).
- Experience with MongoDB, Cassandra, Oracle, PostgreSQL or other databases.
