Credence is seeking a Senior Software Architect supporting the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Strategic Capabilities (SCAP) program. This is an immediate opportunity to join a small, high-performing team that partners directly with senior government leadership to drive enterprise modernization and digital transformation initiatives across the DLA J6 (CIO).
Unlike a traditional software architect or software development role, this position is focused on technical strategy, enterprise advisory services, business process transformation, and identifying innovative technology solutions that improve mission outcomes. Success in this role requires broad technical knowledge, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to quickly evaluate emerging technologies and translate them into practical, mission-focused solutions.
This is a highly visible position supporting two government leaders on a daily basis, including the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR). The selected candidate must be a self-starter who thrives working independently while collaborating closely with government stakeholders and technical teams across the organization.
As the Senior Software Architect, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor responsible for helping government leadership identify, evaluate, and implement technologies that modernize business processes across the DLA enterprise.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to ...
- Serve as the primary technical subject matter expert advising government leadership on enterprise modernization initiatives
- Research, analyze, and assess emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions that improve organizational effectiveness
- Develop technical strategies, project plans, pilots, and prototypes that validate production-ready enterprise capabilities
- Evaluate enterprise platforms and technologies to support business transformation initiatives across the DLA J6 organization
- Produce technical white papers, architecture documentation, executive briefings, and recommendations for senior government leadership
- Identify opportunities to leverage existing DLA technology investments, including ServiceNow, Google Cloud, Microsoft 365, and AI-enabled capabilities to improve business processes
- Provide technical guidance supporting ServiceNow Enterprise Agile Planning (EAP), dashboards, reporting, workflows, and agile planning activities
- Support Microsoft collaboration platforms including SharePoint, Teams, Power BI, and related enterprise tools
- Architect and maintain collaboration portals and knowledge-sharing solutions that support enterprise programs and portfolios
- Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments of proposed modernization initiatives
- Provide architectural oversight throughout the solution lifecycle, including enterprise architecture, systems integration, user experience, and implementation planning
- Collaborate with government leadership and technical stakeholders to develop practical, scalable solutions aligned with organizational objectives
We're looking for someone who enjoys solving enterprise business challenges through technology—not necessarily someone seeking a hands-on software development role.
The ideal candidate is:
- A trusted technical advisor who can communicate effectively with executives, program managers, and technical teams
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision while collaborating daily with government leadership
- Naturally curious about emerging technologies and able to quickly understand, evaluate, and apply new capabilities.
- Experienced translating business needs into practical technology solutions
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic government environment
Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in enterprise architecture, software architecture, technical consulting, systems engineering, or related disciplines.
- Relevant technical certification from a nationally recognized certification authority.
- IT-II Security Clearance or current National Agency Check with Local Agency (or ability to meet applicable security requirements).
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, systems integration, cloud technologies, and software solution design.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
Candidates with experience in the following areas will be highly competitive:
- Department of Defense (DoD) or Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) environments
- ServiceNow, including dashboards, workflows, reporting, and Enterprise Agile Planning (EAP)
- SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) methodologies and Agile program execution
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including AI, automation, and cloud-native services
- Microsoft 365 technologies including SharePoint, Teams, Power BI, and Power Platform
- Enterprise digital transformation and business process improvement
- Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and intelligent automation
- Technical white paper development and executive-level presentations
