The Software Applications Specialist will provide general software application support for security-related departmental information system activities; and assists and trains staff in the operation of software applications, personal computer hardware and scanners, printers and other peripheral devices. They will also assist in the retrieval of data processing information and manage departmental data validation and data integrity processes.
Ideal Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of:
A wide variety of network and computer hardware and software applications, including networking essentials and peripheral equipment
Computer database retrieval capabilities
Modern office procedures
Skills to:
Translate technical solutions into user friendly language suitable for customers with little experience with information technology
Patiently assist users at all levels when troubleshooting technical issues

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
One (1) year of college-level coursework in computer science or a closely related field; AND
Three (3) years of experience providing computer hardware and software support (applicable certifications may substitute for the education and experience requirements, may vary by department).

About the Department/Division:
Washington County's Department of Facilities, Fleet and Parks is looking for a software application specialist to join the safety and security team to help create safe, welcoming, and comfortable public spaces to serve the diverse staff, citizens, and visitors to Washington County.
Facilities, Fleet and Parks provides efficient and effective planning, acquisition, construction, operation, maintenance, and repair of all county-owned or operated facilities (Facilities division). Responsible for the procurement of vehicles and equipment, and the management and maintenance of these assets (Fleet division). Oversees three parks – Eagle Landing, Metzger Park and Scoggins Valley Park – that together make up over 2,500 acres of parkland (Parks division).
The safety and security team is responsible for the safety and security of Washington County employees and guests while on the County campus. A key responsibility of this position will be the design, operation and maintenance of the County’s access control software.
