Tokyo Electron Limited (TEL), a global, multi-billion-dollar corporation and a leader in the semiconductor industry is seeking a Software Applications Engineer. This role requires a combination of on-site and remote desk support focusing on the software application of TEL’s process equipment. You will work closely with chip manufacturers and technical support engineers to pursue common goals in a manufacturing environment.
Job Summary:
- Provides technical support to field engineers, technicians, and product support personnel who are diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing and debugging complex electro/mechanical equipment, computer systems, complex software, or networked and/or wireless systems.
- Responds to situations where first-line product support has failed to isolate or fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.
- Collaborate closely with engineering team, factory, and customer to gather and comprehend equipment/software requirements
- Collaborate closely with engineering team, factory, and customer to troubleshoot and diagnose software issues and that are highly technical
- Provides technical information and assistance to the engineering team and customer regarding software systems or changes/modifications to existing software systems, Including the following:
- Basic networking
- Upgrades
- Building from scratch
- Building simulators and virtual machines
- Hardware, software
- Command-line operations
- Software options, parameters
- Analyzing equipment logs
- Analyzing parameter backups
- Tool software operation
- Host Communication
- IngenioGL/TL
- Maintains strong communication with engineering team, factory, and customer through meetings, presentations, software release note, and TEL applications (TISS, SRMS, CCBweb etc.)
- Provides training on current and new product technology as well as basic software troubleshooting training.
Basic Qualifications & Preferred Skills:
- Japanese Language Skill Required
- Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information System, IT.
- Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Engineering with a concentration on Software and Programming
- Experience working on and delivering end to end projects independently
- Experience working on collaborative projects in a team environment.
- Experience software programming language, such as C++, C#, Java, Python etc.
- Experience with Windows Server OS installation and setup
- Experience with Computer networking, setup and troubleshooting
- Experience with Configuring Windows OS security, understand security concepts
- Experience with PC/server computer configuration, management, troubleshooting, concepts
- Experience with Database management and development (SQL Server, Oracle)
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix operating systems
- Familiarity with virtual machine setup and management (Hyper-V, VMWare)
- Excel macro development (VBA) – Optional
Physical Demands and Work Conditions
The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required, which would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 35 pounds. This position also requires 4 to 6 hours per day at a computer screen/keyboard.
