We’re looking for a dynamic individual to lead key reporting processes, champion optimisation and drive best practice across our Finance function. What You’ll Do

As the Society Financial Control Lead, your role will be to support the Senior Lead in the delivery of financial reporting processes, engaging with stakeholders across the wider finance function to produce segmental business performance and report through to the Board.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Support half year and full year statutory reporting processes, including the month end close reporting process through liaison with key internal stakeholders.
  • Deliver the ongoing development, documentation, implementation and maintenance of the financial control framework within the Society Financial Reporting and Control Team.
  • Drive continuous improvement in processes and systems, focusing on data integrity, reporting accuracy and efficiency optimisation.
  • Proactively champion Workday adoption across Finance and the wider business, demonstrating a standard of skills and behaviours to which the team can aspire.
  • Enhance functional effectiveness by identifying best practices and integrating external insights.
  • Apply sound judgement to identify issues, solve problems and make timely and informed decisions.
  • Maintain industry knowledge and external networks to inform accounting interpretations and application, meaning that assurance provided is relevant and contextual.
  • Accountable for ongoing development of technical expertise and regulatory awareness to ensure compliance with all relevant requirements, supporting the delivery of good customer outcomes and fair value through informed financial reporting and assurance.
  • Work closely with internal and external audit teams to support assurance activities and ensure robust financial governance.

What You’ll Need

To be successful in this role you’ll need to be or have:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) with demonstrable post qualification experience.
  • In depth knowledge of statutory reporting, technical accounting and financial control, particularly IFRS9 requirements, acting as an SME.
  • Experience of operating in a similar role. Financial Services experience would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Proficient in finance systems. Workday experience would be advantageous.
  • Skilled in engaging and influencing senior stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to link operational activity to financial outcomes.
  • Proven ability to mentor and coach teams, manage priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communicator, able to explain complex accounting matters clearly and concisely.
  • Adaptable and proactive, with a drive to support change and deliver excellent outcomes.

Skills Required
