At The Jackson Laboratory (JAX), social media is one of the ways we bring our discoveries into the world. It helps us share the science, ideas and stories that show what’s possible, connect with the audiences who can help move our mission forward, and strengthen how JAX shows up across the biomedical research landscape.
We’re hiring a Social Media Manager to lead JAX’s enterprise social media strategy and strengthen our presence across institutional, scientific, advancement and business audiences. This role will focus on audience growth, engagement, channel strategy and LinkedIn thought leadership, helping JAX leaders and experts show up in ways that are credible, authentic and worth engaging with.
This is not a “just post it” role. We’re looking for someone who understands that social media works best when it builds trust, creates meaningful engagement, and helps strong ideas travel. You’ll help match the right content to the right audiences across channels, build audience personas, support major campaigns and events, and partner with content experts to turn complex science, institutional priorities, videos and philanthropic stories into social-first content.
The right person is a thoughtful strategist and natural momentum-builder with strong social media judgment. You should be comfortable advising leaders, working with expert content partners, using data to sharpen the work, growing relevant audiences, and staying focused in a collaborative environment where a lot of people care deeply about how JAX shows up.
This role may be performed remotely within the U.S., with preference for candidates who can regularly work East Coast business hours. Occasional travel, up to 10%, is expected for JAX events, conferences, campus visits and social media coverage needs. Writing samples may be requested as part of the interview process.
