The Infatuation's social media team is growing, and we're looking for our next team member to join in the CHI area. You'll be perfect for this role if you are highly skilled at creating social video content, and are passionate about dining out and discovering new restaurants.
As a Social Media Manager, Chicago in The Infatuation (CDJ), you will enact social strategy while working closely with Chicago's editorial staff, creating social video and graphics that serve as an extension of our editorial voice on social media. Beyond the day-to-day operations of Chicago's. social accounts, you will collaborate with the Content Production team and Social Media Managers in other cities to create new content franchises, company-wide social and DEI initiatives, special projects, and whatever big creative ideas you may bring to the table. This role will report directly to the Director of Social Operations. We are looking for candidates based in the Chicago area, who are comfortable traveling around the city to capture content.
Job Responsibilities
- Create social-first video and graphic assets to share on TikTok and Instagram
- Work closely with the local editorial team to develop a plan for translating editorial content into effective social media content, and subsequently create weekly content publishing calendars
- Maintain weekly output set by the Director to achieve department KPIs
- Write scripts for social voiceovers that are engaging, social-friendly, and display a thorough understanding of The Infatuation Brand Voice
- Capture video and photo content from restaurants, both independently and in partnership with local photographers
- Cross-collaborate with internal Marketing, Talent, Editorial, and Events teams to create content around Infatuation-specific campaigns
- Stay current on industry trends, platform updates, and best practices to keep The Infatuation at the forefront of social media innovation.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- 3+ years of professional experience in the content creation, social media, or brand marketing, specifically Instagram and TikTok.
- Exceptional communication skills and a passion for food and dining culture
- Able to write copy and voiceover scripts and create content in line with The Infatuation's voice and from our brand's editorial point of view
- Able to capture high-quality food photos/videos using a smartphone and use video and graphic editing apps such as CapCut, Splice, and Canva
- Highly engaged with social media platforms and deeply in tune with internet/TikTok culture to integrate timely trends. - i.e. memes, TikTok trending sounds, app updates, new platform features, etc. and a basic understanding of social performance metrics to optimize content and grow engagement
- Comfortable on camera and enthusiastic about being a face of the brand, with your unique personality and sense of humor
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects at once
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Have a deep sense of Chicago culture, history, and communities. Be familiar with the city's restaurant scene and enthusiastic about celebrating the diversity of cuisines within it
- Experience with social media planning and scheduling platforms such as Later, Sprinklr
- Experience with photo and video editing software a plus, such as Splice or Canva
