ABOUT ROCKET LAB

Rocket Lab is the end-to-end space company building rockets, spacecraft, and critical subsystems that keep the world connected, protected, expand humanity’s reach to the Moon, Mars, and beyond. We move fast, build real hardware for meaningful missions, and make the impossible routine. Come shape the future with us.

SOCIAL MEDIA & DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

The Rocket Lab communications team translates literal rocket science into impactful and compelling stories that captivate the globe. We are looking for a Social Media & Digital Communications Specialist who lives and breathes digital storytelling, thrives in high-stakes environments, and wants to run one of the most exciting feeds in space. This is not a cruise-control 9-to-5. Rockets launch at 3:00 AM, mission milestones happen in real-time across multiple time zones, and the unexpected is around every corner. If you want a comfortable corporate routine, this isn't it. If you want to shape the voice of a company shaping humanity’s future in space, read on.

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:

  • Build the Content Engine: Plan, maintain, and execute an aggressive digital editorial calendar aligned with missions, program milestones, and strategic company goals.
  • Own the Channels: Lead day-to-day execution across X, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Bluesky, subscriber newsletters and emerging platforms.
  • Understand the Audience: Tailor content to our broad range of audiences spanning B2B and B2G, talent candidates, investors, and fans.
  • Cover the Action in Real Time: Work with our media content producers to capture, package, and publish live coverage for launches, hot fires, spacecraft deployments, trade shows, and major company milestones.
  • Translate Rocket Science: Partner directly with engineers, mission operators, and production teams to turn complex technical achievements into sharp, accessible content.
  • Drive Growth with Data: Monitor platform analytics, spot trends before they fade, experiment with AI tools and new formats, and ruthlessly optimize for reach and engagement.
  • Guard the Brand Voice: Ensure every caption, clip, graphic, and post matches Rocket Lab’s standard of quality, technical accuracy, and unmistakable tone.
  • Expand the Frontier: Challenge the status quo of how aerospace communicates. Bring fresh tech, unconventional distribution strategies, and bold creative experiments that keep us leagues ahead of the industry.
  • Roll Your Sleeves Up: This isn’t a pure strategy role insulated from the execution. You are on the tools every single day, drafting, shooting, editing, and driving projects from concept to feed. You can expect to live tweet countdowns, get out onto the factory floor to get the story, write the post, and hit publish yourself.

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience. Proven track record running high-growth, high-engagement social channels and digital campaigns for a fast-moving brand.
  • A sharp portfolio with direct proof of killer campaigns you built and executed personally.
  • Experience in both organic and paid social campaigns and strategies. Deep understanding of how to roll out effective paid social and digital campaigns to serve specific business needs.
  • Flexibility to travel and move fast: Ready to support on-site activations, events, and dynamic launch schedules across time zones.

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:

  • Bachelors degree.
  • Ability to distil complex ideas into short, witty, punchy copy with zero fluff and flawless attention to detail.
  • Extreme ownership. You don't wait for a brief. You spot what needs doing, hunt for an answer, pick up a camera, or open a draft, and get it done.
  • Calm, decisive judgment when breaking news hits or launch countdowns are ticking live.
  • Experience in aerospace, defence, motorsport or tech industries.
  • An authentic obsession with space exploration and technology.
  • You don’t have to be able to have hands on photo/video capture and mobile editing skills but it would be beneficial.
  • Experience in a start-up environment

This position may require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, computer work, and occasional exposure to moderate levels of noise, dust, and fumes in production areas.

Join one of the world's fastest-growing space companies and own a piece of it. In addition to competitive base pay, you'll receive company stock as part of your total compensation package, giving you a direct stake in our success. WHAT TO EXPECT

We’re on a mission to unlock the potential of space to improve life on Earth, but that’s not an easy task. It takes hard work, determination, relentless innovation, teamwork, grit, and an unwavering commitment to achieving what others often deem impossible. Our people out-think, out-work, and out-pace. We pride ourselves on having each other’s backs, checking our egos at the door, and rolling up our sleeves on all tasks big and small. We thrive under pressure, work to tight deadlines, and our focus is always on how we can deliver, rather than dwelling on the challenges that stand in the way.
