Provides senior-level expertise for network infrastructure supporting Rocket Lab engineering and space operations across multiple U.S. sites.

Develop and analyze trajectories for launch vehicles and spacecraft, including orbital maneuvers, rendezvous, station-keeping, launch windows, and collision avoidance. Support mission design, flight software and GNC validation, trajectory data delivery, real-time mission operations, anomaly response, post-launch analysis, and flight dynamics simulation infrastructure development.

Develop, integrate, test, and operate mechanical and propulsion systems for Electron and Neutron launch vehicles. Lead static and integrated stage hot fire testing, oversee system configuration and checkout, troubleshoot real-time operational issues, create CONOPS and HMIs, author procedures, and mentor operators. The role requires engineering experience in mechanical or propulsion systems, with launch vehicle, cryogenic, fluid, pressurized, hazardous, or real-time operations experience preferred.

Operate Electron and Neutron launch vehicles from the control room during testing, rehearsals, and launches. Execute test sequences, monitor ground-systems data, make go/no-go decisions, command support systems, and troubleshoot real-time issues. Support launch-pad infrastructure, GSE, facility systems, commissioning, readiness checks, configuration management, operational procedures, test plans, HMIs, and emergency response protocols.

Build, operate, and improve Rocket Lab’s observability platform across Kubernetes, AWS, and GCP environments. The role requires extensive FAR, DFARS, government contract, commercial negotiation, and DoD contract experience, along with eligibility for a Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Deploys, administers, monitors, and secures classified IT infrastructure, including endpoints, servers, and network devices. Maintains hardened configurations using STIGs and NIST 800-53 controls, responds to incidents, optimizes system performance, collaborates with security and engineering teams, and maintains technical, asset, architecture, and incident-response documentation. Develops mechanical and electromechanical hardware for space robotics, precision mechanisms, tooling, fixtures, and ground support equipment. Responsibilities span concept development, CAD design, analysis, drawings, procurement, assembly, integration, environmental testing, qualification, and delivery. The engineer applies GD&T, tolerance analysis, materials and manufacturing knowledge, and finite element analysis while collaborating with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and test teams.

Develop and maintain full-stack software for Rocket Lab’s Manufacturing Execution System and ERP-integrated tools. Build frontend and backend applications using relational databases, REST APIs, and service-oriented architecture. Apply automated testing, code reviews, Agile practices, Git-based collaboration, documentation, and DevOps or SRE principles. Provide user support, integrate related technical systems, and solve complex engineering challenges while collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, technicians, and operations teams.

Leads and develops a mechanical engineering team delivering space robotics, precision mechanisms, electromechanical assemblies, tooling, and ground-support hardware. Provides hands-on technical leadership across concept development, SolidWorks CAD, analysis, drawing release, procurement, assembly, integration, environmental testing, qualification, and delivery. Manages staffing, utilization, mentoring, budgets, technical risks, and engineering processes while driving reliable hardware execution against technical, cost, schedule, and quality objectives.

Supports supplier improvement and development initiatives through supplier interactions, root cause investigations, and production risk mitigation. Works with mentors and cross-functional engineering teams to apply engineering concepts, contribute to development projects, provide progress updates, and build technical and professional skills. The internship requires full-time, on-site work for at least 12 consecutive weeks beginning in early 2027.

Performs flight dynamics and mission design for Earth-orbiting, lunar, and interplanetary missions. Responsibilities include trajectory development, orbital propagation, rendezvous and station-keeping analysis, launch window and delta-V planning, collision avoidance, simulation tool development, flight software and GNC integration, trajectory data delivery, and real-time mission operations support.
