Job Description

The Social Media Content Intern will dive deep into social media trends, research content ideas, and transform them into shareable and impactful moments that resonate with our audience. We need someone who is a self-starter, a trend-spotter, and a go-getter — someone who can GSD (Get Stuff Done) and isn't afraid to make meaningful contributions to our online presence.

Are you passionate about storytelling through engaging visuals on social media? STCU is seeking a dynamic and creative intern to help bring our brand to life through short-form videos, compelling images, eye-catching memes, and captivating text captions.

Hours per Week:  15-32

Beginning Date: As soon as possible

Duration: Six months 

Car Needed: Yes

Mileage Reimbursement: Yes, *excluding travel to and from the work location

Work Location: Liberty Lake, WA 

Applicable Majors: Marketing, Business, Communications, Public Relations

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Social Media Specialist to develop and execute content aligned with the organization’s priorities.
  • Create and design a variety of social media content—including short-form videos and visually compelling images—using tools like Canva, tailored for platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and LinkedIn.
  • Produce one to two engaging Instagram Reels each week to drive engagement and reach.
  • Develop fresh, original content ideas and turn them into impactful social media assets.
  • Work hand-in-hand with the marketing team to ensure all content aligns with the brand's voice and standards while maximizing audience engagement and generating leads.
  • Assist in the creation and support of content across other digital channels, including stcu.org, blogs, and YouTube.

Qualifications

  • A natural storyteller who loves getting creative with videos, imagery, and other dynamic content formats.
  • Phone is always ready to capture that perfect moment or create engaging video content on the go.
  • A self-starter who jumps in with both feet and takes initiative without hesitation.
  • Naturally curious and keeping up with the latest social media trends is just a fun part of your daily routine.
  • Knows the ins and outs of what works on different social media platforms and have a keen sense of best practices.
  • Thrives on meeting new people and enjoy collaborating across departments to develop captivating content.
  • Professional and self-aware, able to navigate different dynamics across departments and seniority levels with ease.
  • Most importantly, has a love for all things STCU purple!

Required: Currently enrolled with a Junior, Senior, or Graduate standing pursuing a degree in marketing, advertising, communications, or related area. Must be able to work a minimum of 5 consecutive hours per shift and be eligible for an internship credit.
