The Opportunity
Are you ready to pioneer the next generation of integrated magnetic solutions for the electric vehicle revolution? At Allegro MicroSystems, we are global leaders in power and sensing solutions that drive a safer, more sustainable, and autonomous future.
Join our High Voltage Power (HVP) Business Unit in Milan as a Senior Analog Design – Magnetic Expert. Our HVP team is at the forefront of e-mobility, developing advanced isolated, self-powered gate drivers that enable the safe and efficient control of high-power systems. In this role, you will be responsible for the specification, design, and prototyping of integrated high-frequency magnetics—a critical component of our isolated power transfer technology.
What You’ll Do
Lead Magnetic Innovation: Take full ownership of magnet development projects, from initial concept and computer-aided analysis through to detailed 3D modeling.
Advanced Modeling & Simulation: Utilize state-of-the-art 2D and 3D finite element simulations (FEM) to develop and optimize complex transformer structures and high-frequency magnetic components.
Prototyping & Lab Excellence: Define and conduct rigorous prototype testing, performing detailed magnetic measurements and analyzing results to drive precise design adjustments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with silicon design and packaging engineers to define interfaces and integration strategies, and work with systems engineering to align magnetic performance with overall product definitions.
Technical Documentation: Support the development of fabrication drawings, purchase specifications, and commissioning procedures to ensure seamless manufacturing and high-volume quality.
Strategic Support: Act as the subject matter expert for magnetics within the HVP unit, providing technical guidance to ensure Allegro stays ahead of the competition in power conversion efficiency.
Who You Are
Academic Expert: You hold a PhD or Master’s degree in Physics or Engineering (Physics preferred) with a deep understanding of electromagnetics.
Experienced Designer: You have at least 3 years of experience in analog or magnetic design, specifically focused on high-frequency magnetic structures for power conversion.
Tool Specialist: You are proficient in ANSYS (or equivalent) for performing complex thermal, stress, and electromagnetic analyses.
Hands-on Specialist: You have significant expertise with magnetic measurement systems and RCL meters, with the ability to correlate lab data with simulation models.
Fabrication Knowledge: You possess a strong understanding of magnetic fabrication technologies and how they impact the final performance of isolated gate drivers.
Collaborative Leader: You thrive in a global, multifunctional environment and possess excellent English communication skills to influence technical roadmaps.
