TITLE:                Public Safety Officer
LOCATION:       Snowbird Center & Cliff Lodge Public Safety
STATUS:            Part-time and Full-time available, Year-round, Hourly
SCHEDULE:     Swing Shift: 4:00 PM to Midnight

SUMMARY

As a Public Safety Officer at Snowbird, you play a key role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for guests and employees. Under the direction of the Public Safety Manager, you will enforce policies, respond to incidents, administer first aid, and provide general assistance throughout the resort.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Patrol assigned areas of Snowbird Village or Cliff Lodge to provide law enforcement and security services.

  • Secure buildings and grant access to authorized personnel.

  • Investigate unlawful activities and file detailed incident reports.

  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies on investigations and suspect apprehension.

  • Assist stranded motorists, direct guests, and support vehicle relocation for snow removal.

  • Administer first aid and assist accident victims until emergency services arrive.

  • Document all incidents involving Snowbird property or personnel.

  • Report on safety concerns to department leadership and Public Safety supervisors.

  • Handle and protect confidential materials with discretion.

  • Operate two-way radios, four-wheel drive vehicles, and emergency medical equipment.

  • Ensure the security of Snowbird property.

  • Perform routine maintenance on department vehicles and equipment.

  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE

  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • 6–12 months of relevant experience with proven competency.

  • Must be at least 21 years old.

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

  • First Aid certification is preferred.

  • Comfortable using computers; proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required.

  • Ability to learn and use job-specific software and equipment.

  • Capable of operating office equipment including computers, copiers, phones, and two-way radios.

  • Strong problem-solving skills; able to remain calm and professional under pressure.

  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

  • Able to maintain accuracy and focus despite frequent interruptions.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Swing shift: 4:00 PM to Midnight

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • May be required to stay overnight during road closures.

  • Exposure to stressful situations involving public interaction, winter conditions, and emergency response.

  • Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and repetitive motion.

  • Extended periods of sitting and standing.

  • Outdoor work in cold and extreme weather conditions.

  • Frequent interruptions and exposure to noise.

  • Regular interaction with coworkers, management, and other departments.

  • Must maintain a professional and courteous demeanor with guests and staff.
