Jr. Developer - ServiceNow CMDB

Position Summary

The Junior ServiceNow CMDB / CSDM Developer will work on hands‑on technical development, scripting, configuration, and model implementation within the ServiceNow CMDB and CSDM framework. This role is highly technical and focuses exclusively on building, enhancing, and maintaining CMDB/CSDM structures, rules, automation, and integrations. The ideal candidate has basic ServiceNow admin knowledge, strong technical aptitude, and a passion for data modelling, CI quality automation, and service modelling aligned to CSDM.

Key Responsibilities

CMDB / CSDM Development & Engineering ((Will be align to CMDB full time)

• Develop and maintain CI Class Models including attributes, data types, dependent fields, and relationships.
• Implement and optimize Identification & Reconciliation Rules (IRE) for accurate CI normalization.
• Build and enhance CSDM-aligned service models, including Application Services, Technical Services, and Business Services.
• Develop scripted solutions for CI data transformation, validation, and enrichment: Transform Maps, Business Rules, Script Includes, Data Import logic
• Create and update Discovery patterns, including classification logic and relationship mapping.
• Support technical improvements to CI lifecycle processes using: Flow Designer, Workflows, Custom scripts
• Configure CMDB components such as: CI forms; New CI classes; CI attributes; Relationship types; Data model extensions (aligned to CSDM)

Technical CMDB Data Quality & Governance Automation

• Develop automation for CMDB quality checks—completeness, correctness, compliance, duplication detection.
• Contribute to CMDB Health Dashboard automation and scripted data cleanup routines.
• Implement logic to support governance rules around naming conventions, required attributes, and mandatory relationships.
• Build validation logic that ensures CSDM compliance for:
  • Application Services ↔ Application CI alignment
  • Service Offerings ↔ Business Services
  • Technical Services ↔ Infrastructure Cis

Discovery, Integrations & CI Data Engineering

• Provide technical support for Discovery, including Pattern fixes; Classification rule modifications, Probe/sensor enhancements
• Assist in building or modifying integration logic such as: Service Graph Connectors; Import sets; External CI feed mappings
• Validate incoming data programmatically and create rules to prevent CI duplication or misclassification.

Platform Development Related to CMDB/CSDM

• Configure and enhance UI policies, client scripts, and server-side scripts related to CMDB/CSDM.
• Build simple utilities or diagnostic tools for CMDB users (query utilities, validation widgets, dashboards).
• Document technical designs, CI model changes, and scripted logic clearly.

Skills & Qualifications

• 2–4 years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow development or technical CMDB work.
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• Basic scripting skills in JavaScript with willingness to grow into advanced
• ServiceNow CSA; CAD or CIS‑Discovery is a plus.
• Strong analytical ability and passion for data modelling, architecture, and platform development.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to follow governance, and disciplined documentation habits.
• Good communication skills; able to work with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Strong foundation in ServiceNow platform components & Foundational understanding of: CMDB concepts, CI classes, and relationship modelling

  CSDM framework and service modelling basics ; CMDB class structures; Dependency mapping

  ITSM processes (Incidents, Changes, Assets, etc.)

  CSDM principles

  CI lifecycle

  Familiarity with Discovery patterns, probes, and sensors.

Nice to Have

· Basic knowledge of Discovery, CI classification, and dependency/relationship mapping.

· Experience with Flow Designer or simple UI policies and notifications.

· Exposure to CMDB Health Dashboards and CI data validation.

· Familiarity with JavaScript or interest in developing scripting skills.

· Understanding of ITIL processes and ServiceNow best practices.

· Awareness of Service Graph Connectors or external data integrations.
