Summary 

As part of this continued growth, we are currently seeking two SMT Technical Support Engineers - Solder, based in NCR and South India.  Reporting to the Managing Director of PAI-AIM Solder (India), the incumbent will be responsible for supporting and promoting soldering products across various manufacturing processes, such as SMT, wave, and selective soldering lines. The role involves collaborating closely with sales teams during customer evaluations, responding promptly to technical support requests, and delivering assistance either on-site or remotely via digital communication tools. The role requires the engineer to travel to customer locations when required and provide tailored support ranging from troubleshooting and process optimization to training engineers and operators.

Additional responsibilities include preparing reports, documenting activities in CRM systems, and submitting evaluation analyses. The role also requires identifying product trends, communicating customer feedback to management, maintaining strong client relationships, supporting beta-testing sites, and contributing to product development initiatives within the application lab.

Responsabilities

The SMT Technical Support - Solder Engineers’ responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Managing and optimizing solder paste printing processes, including stencil design and screen printer setup.
  • Monitoring and maintaining reflow profile parameters to ensure optimal soldering quality.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving printing-stage issues, including solder paste deposit, stencil alignment, and print quality.
  • Overseeing wave soldering processes and implementing improvements to reduce defects.
  • Implementing and utilizing quality tools to identify process issues and maintain production standards.
  • Training production employees on proper process procedures and techniques.
  • Analyzing process data to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Developing and maintaining process documentation and work instructions.
  • Supporting new product introduction and process qualification activities.
  • Collaborating with production and quality teams to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Demonstrating PAI-AIM’s solder products on SMT, Wave Solder, Selective Solder, etc. production lines.
  • Working with AIM sales associates during product evaluations with customers.
  • Responding to customers requesting technical support and evaluating customer needs in a timely manner.
  • Providing prompt technical support services, either on-site, or remotely online (Teams/video conference) or over the telephone (WhatsApp, videochat apps, etc.).
  • Travelling to customer sites locally or out-of-town to provide Technical Support as required.
  • Providing different levels of customer support depending on the complexity of the request, including on-site troubleshooting, process diagnostic and development, process optimization, problem troubleshooting and debugging, and technical training for engineers, technicians and operators.
  • Providing weekly activity and trip reports and/or entering reports in the CRM.
  • Submitting evaluation and troubleshooting reports such as
    ATRs as needed.
  • Relaying product trends and problems as well as customer needs to Divisional President.
  • Performing daily work (field and office) in an organized and traceable manner.
  • Developing and creating strong technical relationships and opportunities with key customers.
  • Maintaining and implementing friendly customer “Beta Site” for testing of AIM developed products.
  • Working with Product Development projects in the PAI-AIM Applications lab as required.



Qualifications



  • A minimum of 4-5 years of work experience as a process engineer or other relevant role in the electronics manufacturing assembly industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory.
  • Relevant experience from Multinational Corporation (MNC) running electronic assembly lines for an EMS provider or OEM.
  • In-depth knowledge of solder paste characteristics, behavior, and application methods.
  • Strong expertise in stencil design, screen printing processes, and printer equipment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of reflow soldering processes and profile optimization.
  • Demonstrated experience with wave soldering processes and related troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with quality tools and statistical process control methods.
  • Proven ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve process-related issues.

Skills Required
