SMOKEHOUSE ASSOCIATE

Job Description

The main responsibility of the Smokehouse Associate is to weigh, package and price items from the smokehouse. The Smokehouse Associate will also assist in miscellaneous duties, including, but not limited to, filling the cases when low, maintaining the back coolers and cleaning. 

Duties & Responsibilities

• Serve customers in the Meat Department while modeling Hansen’s IGA Market culture and providing “best in class” customer service, which includes, greeting, engaging, delighting and thanking every guest for their business
• Weighing, packaging and pricing items from the smokehouse
• Assist with maintaining the back cooler including rotating stock, dating and cleaning 
• Assist with minimal food preparation, including, but not limited to, value added creation (i.e. sausage stuffing, gourmet burgers, etc.) and meat grinding 
• Assist with the training and mentoring of new associates in the Meat and Seafood Department
• Maintain sanitation, grinding and temperature logs as needed
• Assist with the training and mentoring of new associates in the Smokehouse Department 
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety/sanitation regulations and procedures
• Assist with all other Smokehouse Department duties as needed 

Required Qualifications

• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age due to required operation of Smokehouse equipment
• Strong sense of team – ability to anticipate the needs of the team
• Ability to work at a fast paced and efficient manner
• Ability to take initiative and make decisions independently regarding department needs and priorities, under general supervision
• Excellent time management, prioritization and organization skills 
• Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, push/pull for extended periods of time 
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
