The Position

A healthier future. It’s what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love.

That’s what makes us Roche.

In Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organization (pRED), we make transformative medicines for patients in order to tackle some of the world’s toughest unmet healthcare needs. At pRED, we are united by our mission to transform science into medicines. Together, we create a culture defined by curiosity, responsibility and humility, where our talented people are empowered and inspired to bring forward extraordinary life-changing innovation at speed.

In the Small Molecule Research department (SMR) in Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED), we generate molecular insights, and drive the discovery and development of small molecules from initial starting points to clinical candidates across the pRED discovery portfolio. In the Compound Library Enhancement and Logistics (CLEL) team, we supply research samples for all SMR portfolio projects and we are also the custodians of the Roche Corporate Compound Collection. Our key focus is to streamline and enable efficient drug discovery project design cycles with the provisioning of a well-balanced chemical space and the timely delivery of research samples that can be subjected to biological assays.

We are looking for someone to join our team in the Roche Innovation Center Basel to process and execute requests and manage samples in support of our SMR project portfolio. This role will include a broad range of activities dealing with physical samples and their associated data, as well as the organization of shipments, preparation of compliance documentation and constant stakeholder management.

The position:

The broad objective of the position is to support portfolio project requests in order to ensure both a timely processing of samples and data coming into the Basel CLEL team, and a timely delivery of materials and data coming out of CLEL. This is a collaborative team work involving diverse activities and workflows, as well as the interaction with multiple researchers and partners.
Specifically, you will:

  • Develop business expertise to fulfill diverse compound or data requests enabling the delivery of research material to and from internal and external researchers.

  • Prioritize, organize and track project requests by triggering compound management processes using Roche tools and IT systems. This includes the processing and documentation of compliance data, the registration of new compound structures and associated information, as well as the reception or execution of shipments. It also includes laboratory work whenever necessary to follow-through on specific requests.

  • Communicate with research stakeholders to ensure proactive and timely feedback as well as optimal fulfillment of compound or data requests.

Who you are:

You’re someone who wants to influence your own development. You’re looking to be part of a dynamic and cutting-edge organization where you have the opportunity to pursue your interests across functions and tasks. You are interested in making an impact by providing solutions, reducing complexity and connecting essential elements to ensure the supply and delivery of critical research samples in support of Roche’s drug discovery process.

  • You have an experience of at least 5 years in the drug discovery industry with focus on chemistry, computer science or a life science discipline and with a background in laboratory work and scientific data processes.

  • You have working experience in compound logistics or research project management or were technical contributor of projects teams in drug discovery.

  • You are passionate about supporting others. You show resilience and dedication to providing pragmatic and timely solutions.

  • You are uncompromising when it comes to delivering, comfortable with constant work prioritization and able to adapt your tasks flexibly.

  • You have strong interpersonal skills and thrive in a dynamic team. You are naturally inclined to working with others in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.

  • Experience with Laboratory Inventory Management Systems (LIMS, e.g. Cenevo Mosaic©) or chemistry registration cartridges are a plus. Exposure to data processing and workflows is highly desirable.

  • Your profile is rounded off by having excellent communication skills in English and German in written and oral forms.
