That’s what makes us Roche.

In Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organization (pRED), we make transformative medicines for patients in order to tackle some of the world’s toughest unmet healthcare needs. At pRED, we are united by our mission to transform science into medicines. Together, we create a culture defined by curiosity, responsibility and humility, where our talented people are empowered and inspired to bring forward extraordinary life-changing innovation at speed.

This position is located in Preclinical Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (pCMC), a department within the synthetic molecule research organization in pRED Therapeutic Modalities, where we pave, in a diverse, ambitious and innovative environment, the path to bring drug candidates from early research into development.

The opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated expert to join our process research and development group. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to shape the future direction of our peptide manufacturing capabilities, by establishing and optimizing innovative solution phase processes for our pipeline. Therefore we are looking for a creative and hands-on expert for this laboratory-focused position who will have the autonomy to ideate, design, and execute experiments in order to solve complex chemical and technical challenges.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluate, optimize and implement new and innovative chemical processes and technologies to enhance efficiency and product quality.

  • Independently design, plan, and execute laboratory experiments to develop and optimize novel synthetic routes for solution phase peptide synthesis.

  • Analyze and interpret analytical data to understand reaction performance.

  • Maintain a detailed and accurate record of all experimental work in an electronic lab notebook and author technical reports, summaries, and presentations.

  • Take optimized processes to a kilo lab environment to enable the supply of IND-enabling tox studies.

  • Work effectively within a cross-functional environment, collaborating with colleagues from different departments to ensure seamless project progression.

Who you are:

You hold a chemistry lab technician education with at least 5 years hands-on experience in a process research and development environment focussed on small molecules or alternatively a MSc or a higher degree in Chemistry with additional experience in a process research and development environment. Experience with solution and/or solid phase peptide manufacturing would be considered an advantage.

You have proven ability to independently design, execute, and interpret complex laboratory experiments. A proactive, results-driven mindset combined with excellent problem-solving skills is essential.

Strong communication skills and fluency in English, both written and spoken, are required. German skills and fluency would be considered an advantage.

You thrive in a dynamic, inclusive environment which gives you full accountability for your own contributions and development. You have a keen interest in continuously building a personal network. You are resourceful and flexible in problem solving and in working in a collaborative and inclusive manner.

Ready to take the next step? We'd love to hear from you. Apply now to explore this exciting opportunity!
